Very cool cat, they are quite large aren't they? How much does he weigh?

 

They only get about the size of a good size Tom cat not much larger than a normal house cat.
I've never weighed him. But he is HEAVY...solid muscle. He feels like he weights twice what a normal cat his size does.

 

Have you tried different brushes or combs? Start slow hold the brush out and let him smell it and let him rub against it. Give him a treat after he does. Do that for a couple weeks. Then try a comb, one or two strokes then a treat. Do that for a couple weeks too. Keep working at it slowly. Pay attention to his tail if he starts flipping it quickly stop. I have done this with multiple cats always worked for me.

All my cats love being brushed! Even the newest/formerly feral...

 

Same with our two cats. I can also trim their nails. Treats go a long way to help.

 

Yes on the treats! And I also try to regularly touch their paws (nothing more) to get them used to it

 

Yes, rub their paw pads and they get used to it.

I will try the suggestions the next time I brush my cat.

 

My macaw and cat would team up. The cat would knock the clippers off the shelf and the macaw would get off her perch, pick them up, climb up the door jam and drop them in the trash can.
