Let's See Your Cats!!!

How long did that take? I would like to get mine a playmate but she is super cat aggressive, loves people, hates other cats

 

I had a redbone hound in high school and college that would hunt and try kill any small animal it could chase: squirrels, rabbits, gophers, and even cats. One day my folks come home with a kitten. I put the choke collar on him and he still dragged me as he tried to take stock of this "thing" in his house. The kitten reeled back from him until its back hit the wall, then she popped him right across the nose. He looked at her, looked at us, gauged our reaction...and walked away.

He ignored her for almost a month.

Then something happened. We caught them playing. Giant killer dog and cute little kitten. They'd nap together. It was sweet. Once Beau figured out the dynamic had changed he got used to it and it ended up no big deal.

My folks now have two cats and a dachshund, and they all play together. They didn't at first, but ultimately Dad is the alpha in the house.

I'm sure once your cat realized that a dog was subservient to you (since you're subservient to it by cat law), the dog is two layers beneath it and they will be fine.

 

Kitties like to spoon too.

 

My wife's indoor/outdoor cat, Cherokee eyeballing me eating a sandwich. I call her "ratcat" because she's sneaky like a rat and kills at least a mouse a day outside and brings it to our back porch.



She's a total menace but she's also the sweetest cat I've ever known and purrs louder than anything.

 

Ponce and Ollie got along fine after a month or two - it helped that he was still an itty bitty kitten. Augi was always more aloof with him but it's been over a year now and she just tolerates his random attacks.
Hoping that the new kitten will give Ollie a more active participant in playtime.
Just found out that we'll be getting him the end of this week.

Try a kitten of the opposite sex. We had no luck with our cats getting along (we always have two cats at any one time) until we got a female kitten to go with our male cat. Make sure you do the slow introduction. We kept our kitten in its own room for two weeks until we introduced them.

 

Woke up to explosive shit (diarrhea) on the spare bedroom bed. Well the wife did but I heard her cleaning it up so I got up and helped.

This cat is so annoying..

 

I used to think this too. I have a brother/sister who are litter mates, she hates him! But she gets along fine with the two other (fixed) females I added after she had been around a year... I dunno. Its cats. Are we supposed to understand?

 

All of the females we have had I would describe as "difficult" our male is real mellow. I think some of it has to do with not declawing them. I don't think that helps behavior either.

 

I've had the opposite experience. Male and female litter mates, and they were totally fine with each other. Then again, the male was so dumb, he could have made friends with a tree. Neither were declawed, so you might be on to something.

Agreed - this is exactly the process we used for introducing Ollie.

That's rather odd to me. Augi and Ponce were also brother/sister litter mates and for years they were the best of buds. They would amuse us for hours with their antics when they were younger and as they got older we would always find them cuddled up together on a chair or sofa somewhere. Ultimately your last statement is dead on - they are cats and we will never fully understand.

This is Glenn. Sadly, this little dude is no longer with me. He had Dry FIP and I couldn't watch him suffer. He was taken from me on August 22nd.

 

Caught him mid meow telling me how he liked sitting in the sink even tho I needed to use it.

 

Wife is scheduling a Vet appointment for Abigail on Friday. The past few days we woke up to shit outside the litter box and also on the rug in the living room.. Diarrhea :/

Her poop hasn't been solid for a while now...

 

maybe worms? or ate something that messed her up?
