I understand - Semi-enclosed nesting area, direct human contact, quiet room. One of mine did that when he was a kitten every time I went in there. Once he got bigger and couldn't curl up comfortably in that space he gave it up.

I do some rescuing and fostering.

My two boys pictured below. Rescued a litter, kept these two as a bonded pair. Their brothers found homes and their momma passed unexpectedly, negative results on the necrospy. Don't know what got her.

Good on you for keeping them together and too bad about mamma. It makes it harder not knowing why.

Not for lack of trying. Buried her in a corner of the backyard.

Had an issue with the house being full of dust bunnies all the time, so since you all said it works, I figured I'd try the Furminator. It works. 5 minutes per cat and I got these piles. They're actually the same amount, but the black fur is wiry and doesn't ball up like the orange. It will probably take another half hour or so on each cat to complete the job, but I needed to stop and get out the lint brush and a trash bag.
    IMG_1739.jpg

Bonus: They went mental for it - Like they were on super-catnip or something. It put them in some weird trance. Unlike with normal brushing, they let me flip them over to get their other side and opened up wide for tummy access. Grabbed my hand (with claws) every time I pulled the thing more than a couple inches away from them. Won't be any problem to get them to sit for a weekly treatment. It is their favorite item in the world! Their favorite used to be the silicone glove with the massage nubs all over it. They would come running when they heard the velcro on the wrist band. Their reaction to the Furminator was way more intense.

Tip: Don't use it under a ceiling fan. Now I have to wipe down the furniture and walls, vacuum, change the HVAC intake filter, and wash the comforter.

I rescued this stray about two weeks ago. Still feral, somewhat spicy. She left today to go to a rescue 6 hours east of here. I'm hoping she gets the resources she needs to find a good home.
