Let's See Your Cats!!!

First time ever catching these two snoozing next to each other. About 4 minutes after I took this Marty woke up and decided it was his personal mission to bite Ollie’s feet while he was still dozing. There was a chase and fur did fly.

 

I have to watch how closely I walk to the outer perimeter of our bed at night because Mai Thai lurks underneath and takes a bite out of anything that moves within reaching distance. I've had my toes bitten/scratched so many times. It's a real life monster under the bed story

 

Baz just turned 13.

One of my wife’s coworkers has two long hair cats similar to Baz. Apparently the scrunch-faced cats are prone to respiratory issues?

 

yup, they're predisposed to respiratory issues just like pugs and bulldogs are

 

He is so full of himself it’s not even funny!

We’ve had the smooshed face cats (Persians) for over 20 years and we’ve only had one (the one just recently diagnosed with asthma) that had any respiratory issues. We did have one that snorted constantly though. It sounded like we had a duck in the house. We seem to have more issues with their kidneys. All in all we’ve been fortunate I think. We’ve lost them anywhere from 5 years to 19 years. Ranging from heart disease to liver cancer so who really knows.
We try to rescue them when we can. Usually when we do they are in really bad shape. Matted, shaved, their eyes and noses crusted from the eye goop not being wiped away. We get them and the poor things immediately get a bath and the mats cut or shaved out. They are definitely high maintenance.

 

It seems like just about every time I’m at the vet someone is bringing in a pug whose eyeball has popped out.

I didn’t mention it earlier but if you look at some of the Persians, you’ll see they barely have nostrils. I imagine these would be prone to the respiratory issues. Except for our one little girl everyone has had nostrils for the most part. Maybe this is why we’ve been lucky in that regard. I just found out not long ago that they actually have nostril surgery for them.

 

Yeah Pugs are a breed that nature has been trying to phase out for years but humans keep interfering lol. They have so many inherent health issues. They're cute little dogs don't get me wrong but I can't help but feel bad for them.

 

Yeah, every time I see it I feel just awful.

 

Yeah he's super harmless. He was just probably thinking about food. That's all he thinks about, really.

Also, since we're posting Tuxedos, here's Eros with his brother from (in fact!) the same mother. Tux.

 

Also, while i'm at it, I've got a foster. Pregnant cat, born last sept, practically about to burst. GF named her Minnie.

 

That's a shame. So young and pregnant already with barely any time to just be kitty getting love and attention.

 

Until i brought her in, she was just a stray in a very large colony. She is a little purr machine in my arms. I'll find her a home after this.

In all seriousness, if some of y'all want her and/or her kittens, the only conditions are a small $25 donation to a rescue (either here or local to you, proof required) and the understanding that a spay/neuter is required.

Transport is probably the hardest bit of that.

I bet her babies are gonna be super cute.
