Be very careful about what plants you have in the house, lots and lots of seemingly harmless flowers are poisonous to cats. We had that issue as well, my mothers cat got sick a few times. Super bummer since i love having flowers in the house but don't want to risk it with my two little shithead cats, they'll eat anything.

I have a Cat Genie automatic scooper machine.

Had to get it for one of ours that would not use a box a second time. Once polluted, he’d go on the floor next to it if it wasn’t cleaned right away.

The Genie is amazing! It has plastic pebbles for ‘litter.’
Scoops, washes, rinses, and disposed of waste (liquid and solids) by hooking up to either toilet or washing machine cold water line. Disposes by discharge into toilet or laundry grey water line.

We have 8 cats, lol. I'm a sucker for taking in strays so I had accumulated 4 cats at my house when I lived alone. Then I met the woman I'm now married to and she already had 2 cats, and we ended up with 2 bottle babies that were dumped at her work (she's a vet tech), and of course we grew attached. One of the bottle babies had major coordination issues and we couldn't trust him to another home, plus he depended on his sister. Now he's 2 years old and he's still goofy and uncoordinated but much better. He raises hell by chasing our older cats around, pretty damn funny.

This is him, cute little shithead20160305_233142.jpg

This seems like a decent deal. Considering that I spend about $12 every two weeks on his litter I could have this thing pay for itself in a little less than a year. Thanks for the suggestion!

Check craigslist, these usually some there. Some cats don’t take to it right away. Have patience and a regular box near by. I made asmaller and smaller regular box, forcing them into the Genie.

Thanks for the advice! Could you provide me with a measurement of the diameter of the litter circle? Minnie is about 22-24" from butt to nose so I am wondering if he would even fit!

I’ve not measured my big cat, but he’s 16# and doesn’t look fat. He’s tall and long. And he used it just fine.

At 17" we would defiantly have to use the hood addition. We have a 19x28 for him right now, when we were using the 17x22 he would pee on the edge all the time.

The accessory side walls make a big difference without committing to the dome. Also, for ease of cleanup -whether traditional clay or the CG- I put a cardboard box ‘frame’ around and under the litter box. It catches all the dirt they toss out.
