The look of annoyance and confusion:

Since he's got a dental visit this week we figured it was a good time to give him a trial run of his sedative for our upcoming move (in case there was issues to ask about). Hasn't closed his third eyelid but he's been out of it most of the afternoon.

I took advantage and got some a lot of brushing in

So youre saying you are the type of human someone wouldnt want to get passed out drunk around?
    Haha
Yeahhhh, I have buddies like that.
Never know what youre going to wake up to if you do.

    So that third eyelid thing....
The first time I ever noticed that was a long time ago, my cats eye was closed and watering, he was obviously in extreme discomfort when he came to me for help.

Not knowing any better I pried his eye open and....

    Totally freaked out!

Omg omg his eye is gone!!!
I called my vet tech friend and she told me I was a dumazz, cats have a third eyelid and thats what I was seeing lol

    I had no idea.
Turned out to be a $100 foxtail but the vet got it out np

I mean I was really doing him a favor with the brushing so was it really all that bad for him?

That foxtail story...Ouch. When we had our dogs one of them ended up getting a foxtail in the top of her paw that the vet didn't find. Sent us home with antibiotics and bandaging for her but after another night of her foot being swollen and bothering her we decided to give it another look. A pair of tweezers and a little squeezing finally got it out. She healed with a small scar on her paw and thankfully never had an issue with them again.

Foxtails are the mosquito of the grass world.

    Luckily he loves belly rubs.

    Good job finding it.

Having always had dogs and cats they are the worse thing about living out in the country, fishing, hunting etc.

And NOW since the flood last year I had those stupid goatheads out front.

Cody is not allowed out front ever, but sometimes I bring him around to load up in the truck when its parked out there and, yeah, they dont do the damage foxtails do but they hurt like hell.

Sam looks at me if I tell him to do something and says... "nah... I think you're going to do that for me". And then I end up doing exactly what he asks me to do.

    Looks almost like Sam

Exactly what I have to do. The only problem is when he want's it done. He'll move out from under my feet while I'm sitting at the computer and lay on his back where I can't reach him. Then he'll just look at me like "umm... you're coming to me motherfucker, not the other way around". Needless to say, he get what he wants.

I've got an actual question. We are moving from Arkansas to Colorado in a little over year or so. My problem is, how do we move a cat 14 hours with a stop in Amarillo along the way. He can not stand being in a crate and there is no way that he can ride in a vehicle without freaking out. He's going to have to eat, use the bathroom, and just suffer through the move. So what is the best way to make this happen. Bear won't give a shit. He'll love it as he loves to ride in a vehicle. But I just don't know how we are going to get Sam there without a huge amount of problems.

    Any suggestions?

    Ahhhh cats,
    Gotta love em.

My past cat dez was psycho.
Belly rubs were just a trigger for wrasaelmania.
He was never mean about it.
    Come to think about it,
EVERYTHING was a trigger with that cat haha

Just say boo, or give him a look and it was ON!
And he'd come to you, full ninja! Freakin berserker for reals but always fair about tooth and claw.
Simba wrestles, other cats Ive had play the game.

There will only be one dez I dont think I could ever get that lucky again dammit.

Miss that cat, he was only one yr old when he got ran over

Just call your vet. They'll prescribe some sedatives to relax him. You'll be fine.

Id load cat in the crate with food & water and its blanky and hope it yowls itself to sleep.
Turn up the tunes when it gets super annoying.
Not much else you can do except tell your vet what you plan and get some relaxant or sedative.

    Im lucky.
Most of my cats dont mind truck rides or road trips.

Maybe someone with more experience with non truck friendly felines can help more.

We took ours cross country, it merrrooowed an hour or so basically had a litter pan and food/water and bed. You could try harness and driving around see how he does bout 30min drive .

My sister just did this a few months ago taking her cat & dog from Pa to FL. Best bet is to try and get him used to rides, harness first, then a few outings. But, if you just want to jump into it when the time comes then for the trip you can have a vet prescribe a mild sedative that will chill him out for the journey. A mid size crate with food & water + a smaller litter pan would be all you need. Personally I think a basic pet carrier is too small for a long trip like that.

Her cat meowed for about 15min then just settled in for the ride and accepted it. No cat died from an over abundance of meows. They get it after a while.
