It's been a busy week for our pride. Gracie had her dental appointment on Tuesday. We dropped her off at 08:00 and didn't pick her back up until 19:00...a long day for her. As feared, her teeth were in pretty bad shape. She had to have three of her four canines removed and the roots from the broken-off forth had to be drilled out. She also lost two molars, and had to have a few of the resulting holes filled to protect her jaw bone. It was a lot of stress, and she came home groggy and upset. Heather slept with her in the guest room and by morning she was basically back to normal. She gets pain meds each morning for four days, and moist food only for a week, but otherwise she's fine. Cats really snap back from losing teeth - which were probably painful while there - and she might actually be more playful now. She goes back in two weeks to have some sutures removed, and she may need another round of dental work in a few months, but we are looking forward to giving her a comfortable winter first. Her blood work still looks good, but her urine was a bit dilute which can be an early sign of kidney trouble. That will all get retested in six months. For now she's happy and warm sleeping on the sofa after savaging her toy fish.

Henry also had some vet visits recently as continued follow-up for his heart failure issues. He had blood work and an x-ray last week, and saw the feline cardiologist on Monday for an echocardiogram. All of the news was good, and much of the heart enlargement has been reversed. He's good to go for another six months. He was originally given 12-18 months, but he's totally destroying the curve at over three years and counting.

Henry and Gracie are starting to become buddies, and that's good for both of them. He's more than twice her size, but has been very gentle with her. She is still a bit defensive after years on the street, but she seems to be sweet on him. We often fine them sleeping in the same room. Not exactly together yet, but he usually positions himself in spots where he can watch over her. He's a good boy.

Three of the kittens are getting closer to 2 pounds to be ready for spay/neuter/adoption … the runt is trailing far behind. Momcat will go for her spay and up for adoption next week, the kittens will follow in a week or so. It is sad to say goodbye…these little ones are a great bunch and the runt has adopted me as his favorite.

This is my boy Anton. Been gone a few years, but he knows a good truck and nap spot when he sees one. He forever lives on as my screen name.

Lol…Googley, he is a character. He’s the runt of the litter, 7-8 weeks old and he finally eating solid food! Now that he is eating he “talks” while he eats…he also talks while he poops. He loves to sleep on you, has the strongest purr of all the kittens, complains and squawks about everything but quickly settles in once he is comfortable. He is tiny but has a huge personality…he has almost made us foster “failures”. It will be good if we are so lucky that he and his brother go into the same home together.

It took a little work, but he is very gentle and tolerant of the human larvae in the house now.

And another of him sprawling out.

He is technically my wife's cat, but he comes to the door to great me when I come home from work.
