Sorry in advance for the long post, but I haven't sent any updates for awhile, and most of the news is good:

We are celebrating after Henry's most recent cardiologist visit. It still cracks me up that there are actually feline cardiologists, but we're happy to live near one of the biggest university-based veterinary schools in the country.

    20220603_085000.jpg

Anyway, this cat, who was given 6-18 months to live back in 2018 is still "stable and doing remarkably well" at four years after his diagnosis. Because he needs meds twice a day and is too nervous to deal with a cat sitter, my wife and I have not been away from home overnight together during all this time. One of us is always home. It has cramped our lifestyle quite a bit, but we love the little bugger. Actually, we didn't notice all that much because of Covid-19 restrictions, but now that things are somewhat normal we are beginning to notice it more. We tried to have one of the nurses from our vet's office take care of him for a couple of days in April, but like everyone they are super short staffed and didn't have anyone available. In any event, he's doing really well, all things considered. He gets tired quickly when playing, but we all know that when Henry stops, he needs to be left to rest. He's self-limiting, and the vet says that's fine.

    20220606_151419.jpg

Henry has been slowly taking little Gracie under his wing since she arrived last July, and they are now becoming good friends.

    20220526_182958.jpg

Arthur is still Arthur - a good brother, my best buddy, and a very healthy orange boy - and he and Gracie are also getting closer. My wife thinks she has a crush on him.

    20220526_175618.jpg

Speaking of Gracie, she's doing better as well. All of her treatable issues have been dealt with, and we have finished converting her to a hypo-allergenic diet. She still has limited mobility and vision, but she seems to have finally realized that she's safe here. In the past she always slept very lightly, and you could never get within 10 feet of her without an eye popping open to see what was coming. She passes out hard now, and her little personality has opened up. She's such a sweetie.

    20220609_085339.jpg

One thing that has really been noticeable is the fact that she doesn't like to be alone. She is almost always in the room with one of us, and even if we duck out while she's sleeping she comes looking for us as soon as she wakes up. She can often be found hanging out or sleeping on my desk's pull out shelf when I'm working at home and the wife is out of the house.

Thank you for the update and so glad they’re all doing well. It’s been a rough week for us (not cat related) and hearing good news is very uplifting to say the least.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
The average lifespan of indoor cat vs an outdoor cat is about twice as long. Avg lifespan for an outdoor cat is about 8 years. From our vet.

After losing 4 cats to the road in front of our house, at the age of eight we got a gray kitten and named her fluffy. She was an indoor cat only. I buried her in the backyard when she passed at 16 years old when I was 24.
I won’t have outdoor cats, too many bad things can happen to them.
    Just my personal preference.

Frick Frack is 9+, going on 10 and still a bad ass and as outdoor as it gets for a pet and not a barn cat. Don't see him croaking anytime soon. :notsure:

My son's cat and the only male indoor cat we keep.
He's pretty cool most of the time. Once in awhile if my son closes his bedroom door he'll carry on such a sad and lonely meow. 20220604_142502.jpg

This ol bat is going on 14/15 years old and has been a full time outdoor kitty her whole life as the “shop property” cat. I swear she is going to outlive us all :rofl::rofl: she is the queen of the land. I’m so grateful that the outdoors where I am is a pretty ideal environment for kitties to thrive and live the fullest and healthiest of lives as outdoor kitties and even indoor if they choose to come in on a hot day or random freezing night.

My babies may be spoiled but I’m just as spoiled to have them in my life for as long as I have :D

Oh and here is Nova soaking up all the spoils of the cush indoor life.

She’s helping pack for the trip. We wonder if she’d be a good adventure cat.

Ha! Hobbes is lovey-dovey as can be in the morning til he gets his treats. Then he instantly flashes into don't touch me mode.

He's so obvious. Don't tell him I said so though.
