Let's See Your Cats!!!

This is not going to make me popular. I have an opinion to share that many if not most won't agree with.
First, I think everyone can benefit from having a pet in their lives. Call it emotional therapy or whatever, a pet is needful of it's human, and shows it's appreciation and love in various ways, giving the human a reason for being. A reason to get up in the morning. A reason to think of other living beings instead of being a sad introvert. A reason to love.
OK, that point made, next point to make is the fact that unless your pet is a parrot or an elephant, you will mourn the loss of a pet 4 or 5 times in your life, more if you keep multiple pets concurrently. You are something less than human if you don't mourn the loss of a loved one, even if you bottle it up inside you.
Now here's where my opinion differs from most. Humans work our tails off all our lives to put a roof over ours and our loved ones heads, and we do without the luxuries we determine to be too expensive. I apply that reasoning to the healthcare of pets. Certainly, annual wellness checkups and immunizations, but there is a limit to what a Vet can do for your pet, both for medical reasons and for monetary reasons. I don't believe in extraordinary measures to prolong a pets lifespan.
There are tough decisions to be made, and you do what is reasonable, but you can't prove to yourself or to others that you loved your pet more by spending bookoo bucks on Vet hospitals. You have to know when to say enough suffering, enough expense, The quality of life is not going to improve, no more sadness, let it go.
After a reasonable period of clean house, quiet mornings, and lonely days, start your search for another pet. It won't replace the one you lost, but will make its own place in your heart, and despite your resolve, you'll soon love it as much as you loved its predecessor, and the one before that, and the one before ...

She has always been so good about not getting into the plants thankfully. But a lit candle on the other hand she for whatever reason is drawn to it and will singe her fur by pawing at the flame
