Latest batch of kittens. We got the queen fixed and all but 2 of her last litter have homes. But here's the youngest bunch. We really need to get a handle on the situation of cats multiply like crazy.
It all started by feeding one stray! 20220625_181218.jpg

Bought a box of Frontline when we adopted Cheddar, and couldn’t find where I stashed it till last night. Poor cat has been going crazy with his fleas for more than a week now. He’ll be more comfortable now. I really hate to use any product like that though, as anything toxic to the fleas can’t be good for the cat. Fleas and such are one bad thing about having an indoor/outdoor cat, but gotta take the good with the bad.

My cats never go outside and one year we still had fleas. It took a couple of months to get rid of them . Frontline for the cats and spray for the whole house.

We've had fleas in the house a couple of times and for sure a pain to get rid of. It really gets the wife bugged out for lack of better words
Once pretty sure she brought them home from a friend house when she was caring for the friends dogs. We got rid of them but seem like a small fortune to treat everything in the house. I've started buying Amazon brand, much cheaper than Frontline.
This little loner snoozing, look up at me when I opened the patio door.20220627_155345.jpg

We used frontline for a while until two of our cats had a reaction and we stopped. Haven’t used any flea meds for years, but at Lola’s last vet visit they recommended Revolution as it’s more gentile. None of the cats cared or had a reaction, so we’ll stick with that brand from now on

We have one that has had a bad reaction to it and not sure what the wife gets for that one now. She's the oldest of them, she cranky old cat now but still stops by and see if I'll give her a treat. The litter boxes downstairs where I usually hang out.20220508_190911.jpg

I can say that the little kittens have a therapeutic quality to them, just relaxing for me to sit outside with them. They're very cute. Always hungry and like to play.

The last 3 of our fosters go back to the Leander TX, Humane Heroes shelter on Thursday for spay/neuter. 3 of their siblings went back 2 weeks ago. These 3 were slow to make weight (2 lbs) so we have been able to enjoy them for 2 extra weeks. Giving them back sux, they are little rascals!

It must be tough not to get too attached to those little cuties. Thank you for fostering kitty’s. You’re a special person to do that.

Thank you for your kind words. The kittens give back so much love, it is tough to not be a foster fail.

My wife doesn't want to use either one. Since Fricker is an indoor/outdoor cat and we live in a neighborhood we like having his little tag on him anyhow, so we use a flea collar. I put the reflective things on it and his tag. Lasts for 6 months and he gets a reflective collar that sticks out like a sore thumb since he is solid black and it keeps his tag on.
Works for us. I would rather use one of the liquid ones, but it's not worth the argument to me.
