Never could figure out how the ups man got packages on the porch when I was gone.

Was home off of night shift one day, watched him drive up to the gate, give the dogs a couple cookies, throw a couple more in the yard, hustle thru the gate to the porch, turn around and toss a couple more in the yard, hustle back to the gate, each dog got one more treat and he jumped in his truck and was gone.

    I didnt mind.
Ups man is on the approved visitor list always.
Just couldnt figure out how till that day.

I worked as a meter reader and accessed a lot of back yards while people were at work and I'll tell you the scariest dogs were the ones out alone with the owners wife or kids, kids especially.

We had one we called hidden tiger crouching pitbull, every rookie got that route, including me.
Everyone had radios and would be gathered somewhere we could watch around the time that meter was about to be read...

He had just enough chain to alllllmost get you when you came in the front gate.

A cookie took care of him too if no one was around.
    After you changed your underwear.

Always nice to have the handler around but that wasnt always an option.
I always said if dog is cool let him out. But you never know how dog is going to react so some of the guys just asked to keep dog in always.

    Nobody likes extra paperwork.

My Akita took "ownership" of strangers. If they were permitted in the yard, he'd mark them to claim them as his own. You ever get THAT happen reading meters?

    Oh yeah
When I least expected it haha

Had special "walking" shoes I only wore for that job.
I would get inspected by my dogs for a full 5 minutes when I got home.

You wouldnt believe the shit I saw reading meters.
This was when electronic meters were just coming out so every one had to be manually read.
    Electric and water.
Water meters were usually inside the yard "somewhere"
You had an approx location but some searching was required the first couple of times.
This meant exploring the yard while people werent home.

A knowledge of dog behavior was a must have.

Met one of these ^^^ being socialized off leash in the tractor supply parking lot a couple months ago.

    Awesome awesome dog.

    We had 3 codes

    1- dog in yard
2- dog in yard, read if possible if dog is not out.
    ( ALWAYS a fun one )

    And
3- dog in yard do not enter

Aggressive dogs were dealt with by setting up a safe time with the owner to enter the premises.
Dog lives there, its his yard.

Just had this issue yesterday. PG&E USA dude came around and he was all about "keep the dog inside". I almost said "He lives here, you don't".

She decided to supervise some gardening at Grandma’s the other day. Way more interested in the doves than the gardening though.

My hairdesser/friend got a new pup, long-haired Chihuahua. His name is Franklin and he's 11 weeks old

    20200305_085747.jpg

He was showing off for me, kept jumping in and out of his little bed to show me how high he could jump
