Stopped by PetSmart the other day for a leash, collar, and some chew toys. Sent my wife this pic and she wanted to know where the hell I was at!

Kelpies are awesome dogs. Had a red that to this day, is still my favorite dog as he had a great personality and just thinking about him makes me miss him terribly. Reckon he toured nearly the whole of Australia with me and was a great wheeling, camping, fishing, get girls attention, shop dog.

Is it normal for a dog to randomly hide, ignore commands, and act scared as hell all of a sudden? My puppy spent the whole day in his crate yesterday (with the door open) and he refused to leave. After finally getting him out, he’s been walking with his tail down, submissively peeing, and has been hiding under chairs, tables, beds, etc. Hopefully this is a temporary thing, he’s only 6-7 months old.

I'd say no. Is there any change in the house? Any high pitched electrical equipment that was just added? Did it see you changing your clothes :). Any human arguments that perhaps scared the dog? New animals? A bossy cat? If no changes, perhaps working on re-bonding with the dog with treats and time outside.

He's been like this recently after working with the trainer. The trainer who trains our puppy usually works with larger dogs like mastiffs, so I'm assuming the training method may be a little intimidating to our puppy. I'll have to see what happens after the next session because our two dominate cats are just now getting along with our dog so I doubt they're the culprit here lol.

We've been using a control collar (not a shock or prong collar) for training and he's been fine with it. I'll have to watch and see what happens over the next few days.

Are you present as the trainer works?

I’d bribe the dog from the crate with some high value treats then work in “fun” things, like play. Or treats.

    What ever happened wasn’t good.

The trainer works with us (he also trains us to train the dog as well if that makes sense). The puppy was fine when he came back from his 2 week long residential training last month so this behavior is new to us.

we've been using this company https://www.throughtheleash.com/

I think something traumatic happened. Maybe something fell or startled him? Maybe tumbled down a stair? Hard to say. Try picking him up and walking around. See
If there’s something he’s hesitant to go near?

If he’s not better tomorrow you might consider a trip to the vet. May be a medical issue. It so frustrating because obviously a dog can’t tell you what’s wrong.

Sounds like it's the trainers fault. Ask him why your pup is behaving this way. he is supposedly the pro.
