I lost my last shepherd - from spleen cancer - 3 years ago. First time in 50 years I have been without a husky or shepherd...we always had 2 or 3 at a time. All of our shepherds died of some kind of cancer...

when we get a bigger house, I will be relieving many rescue places of some dogs!!

Just relaxing with Dozer watching TV. Then I mentioned the word "bath". This is the look I got.

it is crazy that the "bath" word resonates like that with all dogs...

we have had a few that would sleep in the tub, or shelter from thunder in there...but all I had to do was grab the shampoo from the closet, and they were gone...

I had to explain to new neighbors one time that we were bathing the dogs...not beating them!!! And it is really hard to bathe a screaming husky or shepherd when you are laughing so hard at what big babies they are

This is Indy, a mini Aussie puppy, he's 7 months at the moment. Smaller than we wanted, but realistically he's perfect for our home and life. Size wise, anyway...energy levels are another story haha

Making me feel real grateful right now for the support system I have..and give my dogs in return. These are my first dogs ever and I’m in my 30s. I couldn’t see things any other way now. Hope another pup finds its way to you and yours. Respect.

Last week I had a really unfortunate accident involving Kilo. He is very Alpha, and if another dog is around he loses his mind. I had some buddies over and we were doing some trailer work for the upcoming trips/off-roading season. One of the said buddies brought over his female Pit bull which I always encourage. We just ensure the chickens and cats are out up. Kilo doesn’t like other dogs chasing his buddies, and he reacts if they do.

We finished up the trailer mods (28’ gooseneck) and was in the process of moving it to the back.

It had rained all day so my craptastic road was a sloppy mess.
Kilo and the other dog where playing and got a little close to the front of my 1 ton and he was hit. He was so focused on chasing the other dog he ran into the truck....and I ran over on top of him. I didn’t slam on the brakes since this would have just tore him up and put even more weight on him. My buddies jumped off the trailer, had me put the truck in reverse and roll off of him. He jumped up but was bleeding a bit. We checked him out, stopped his bleeding from scrapes and cuts. I put him in his military transport crate, put him in the bed of the truck, strapped him down and rushed off to the emergency room. He checked out. Besides the cuts, he was ok. The Veterinarian said he would be really sore since he had a Duramax on him, but should fine. Only thing he said was Kilo should loose 3 lbs and get back down to 103 lbs.

I feel blessed that he is still with us. I thought the worse was going to happen.

    Yesterday...running around:

Wow! It could have completely went sideways. Glad everything is ok. As I’ve always believed, dogs are angels without wings. So, whether you knew it or not, good was watching over everyone.

Here’s to a quick and full recovery for Kilo!
