Santino age 12, rides in my Tacoma bed daily. And it smells like it!

This is Skye. We picked her up from a shelter. She was recently found as a stray. She's still a bit shy but so far she's doing well and adjusting to her new life. She loves to go on walks and hikes! Which will help keep me off the couch!

Kilo and I were talking today and he asked why I post pictures of the cats so much. I didn’t have a good answer and apologized.

Yesterday, Kilo wanted to play ball (I can’t due to being on crutches, snow outside…not going there). He dropped his ball on one of the cats heads, gave him a big sloppy lick, and surprised the hell out of him.

    Shocked look…:D

Beautiful Shepherd. How's his hips? My 12 year old is feeling his age.
    Never a better dog.

He’s doing pretty good considering. I ran over him over with my truck/trailer about 6 months ago. Not sure how he survived that one. We picked him up, took him to the emergency room. Vet came out with him on a leash with a couple bandages about 30 min later. He got a few minor cuts and scrapes. Only thing I can think of is the ground was really muddy, we were moving really slow (under 5mph), and I didn’t stab the brakes when I rolled the front tire on him. This was a picture right before it happened. Now he is no longer allowed to be around other dogs when moving equipment or vehicles. He just loses his mind. That’s how this happened. He was chasing my friends dog and zigged when he should of zagged and slid under the wheel.

He’s 7 now I think. He was a gift from one of my longtime friends I served with in the military. He was training him for the local police department and the handler didn’t get along with him. So instead of putting him down, I adopted him.

He is a bit much at times, but has earned his keep here. He is gentle with the cats, chickens, kids, and known adults. The UPS driver knows him well and has to do a double check to ensure he doesn’t take off with him. Kilo jumps inside the truck every time wanting a treat. (My local UPS guy is pretty cool and I know him on a personal level now) He has stopped one home invasion with my assistance and keeps predators off the property.

Overall, so glad he is with us.

Good for you buddy, enjoy your dog. We take our Shepard everywhere we go
when we RV. Santino is a mamma's boy. Big bark, too slow now to bite. I had to get a ramp to get him into my truck bed, he can't jump up onto the tailgate anymore. He loves his daily ride in my Tacoma. I leave the tailgate window up and he entertains the vehicles driving behind. He gets walked around the neighborhood 3-4 times a day, lot's of trails for him to explore. Santino rides on a kayak and paddle board with his mom.

My old bird, Faith. She's 12 going on 13 soon. Not so strong in the hips anymore but with some help up the small hills she's still motivated to get outside.

She’s got that look of contentment. Nice picture…reminds me of growing up. I lived in Eureka and later worked in Arcata until I went off to college. Background looks like the picture could have been taken at Patrick’s Point? Thanks for sharing. Stay Well…Stay Safe

I have a lot of great memories there. We camped there every summer growing up. Used to hunt for agates and surf fish down on agate beach and was part of an explorers group that climbed and rappelled on the ceremonial rocks and outcroppings. Fun times.

Just got these two last weekend after a 2400 mile round trip from Baltimore, Md to Lincoln, Ne. They are Aussie/ Border Collie/ Cattle dog mixes. Brown one is Boone and he'll be my companion dog and hopefully a SAR dog, Black one is Osiris and he'll be a sports dog and me wife's demo dog for training. If anyone's interested boone_and_taco on instagram. image_6483441 (1).jpg
