Went to the vet today. Health check and some vaccines. Up six pounds but still looks good!

Cracks me up every time. The vet comes in and gives the health check then off to the back for shots. You go up front and settle up. They bring your dog back when they’re done. With Kimo, you can tell he’s coming cause he’s dragging someone! Today, I thought she was gonna fall over!

76 pounds of Labrador dragging 100 pounds of technician! Too funny.

I totally understand this. I can always hear my dog coming (90lbs) pulling who ever has her leash.

Hahahaha, took Mal to get shots last time and male tech comes into room all I heard was growling. He said can we do this ? Yep. For what ever reason she loves the girls but men, man she gives them attitude. I can even tell the vet is scared of her.
We've had her since she was 9 weeks old and now almost 3.5 years old. I can't leave her with them.

I have the same experience with Reba but she doesn’t like anyone. I gotta muzzle her. When we moved to the town we are in now I took her to the local vet and she peed under the Christmas tree while mean mugging everyone. Snarled ant the vet for coming in the exam room and told the girls at the front what for on out way out cuz they were laughing at her. I swear she said “If I gotta come back here you’ll all be sorry”. She doesn’t like going to the vet

My little dog is the same way. She tries to attack men, especially big men with hats/hoodies and beards. It's as if, if she can't see their face, she doesn't trust them. She did the same thing when people had to wear masks. Service men would come to the house and she would go ballistic. Most women though, with them she is fine. She will go up to them and let her pet her.

Funny thing is we got her when everyone was wearing masks and she is fine with a mask.
Not too sure if that's a good thing if someone is wearing one and breaks into our house o_O.:rofl:
This is what we give out to Mal.

Just received this as part of a larger email. FYI.

Furthermore, there have been reported cases of atypical respiratory illnesses in canines across the United States. Symptoms include lung inflammation, cough, sputum, and fever lasting 6 to 8 weeks or longer. Most cases do not improve with antibiotic treatment. Cases are more common in animals housed in settings such as shelters, boarding or training facilities of which our working canines fall under. Currently there is no evidence to suggest spread to humans, but the potential cannot be disregarded. It is crucial for our personnel to prioritize their health and well-being particularly as we continue to gather for the holidays. To safeguard our workforce the following recommendations are provided.

Yeah I've been reading/hearing about this more and more, we aren't going to take Dex to the doggy day care we use unless absolutely necessary until this blows over, or they figure out a treatment for it. No more dog parks either unfortunately

This was the first I've heard of it. We're in VA, so I guess I'd better find out more about it since it's in NC.

One of our family members mentioned it to us over Thanksgiving, since then I've heard it in the local news a few times. It is spreading in CA though so that might be why it's getting more attention here. Years ago we lost a dog we adopted shortly after we took her home, to kennel cough. It was painful to watch, this sounds like something similar

Thanks for sharing. Been hearing a lot about this. It's spreading fast, best way to protect from it is no other dogs interaction.

Not to thread jack, but there is another thing going on in China too.
    Just saying.
If you don't have to send then to camp then don't. It's not the facility it's the other owners who let their kids/pups go running upto every pup and kid. We only took our girl to dog park 1 time, before the trainer said don't do day care or parks. As there are some nasty fights and they pickup bad habits/ illnesses too.
    End of rant:

Daycare is a little different in dogs are evaluated prior to being “admitted” and small dogs don’t mix with large dogs. Most daycare places require vaccination for things like kennel cough and other communicable diseases and they check because nothing drives business away like kennel cough.

For whatever this is going around, it’s the viral and seems to spread via contact or air and communal water dishes. Some vets are suggesting no areas where there are or have been a lot of dogs. Like school fields, popular trails, etc. in addition to daycare, dog parks, and boarding.

idk what to believe. I mean during Covid, vets weren’t allowing people into the practice and when I went the other day, they didn’t seem to care.

Day care and boarding are very owner dependent. We haven't had a need to use ours recently, but I have few worries about our center. The owner invests in the welfare of his employees and customers and the place is a clean as you could reasonably expect. And Tessa is always happy to go there.
