FYI. I saw that you can shop Pet Food Express on Amazon. I thought setting up a regular dog food delivery might be a good idea.

I’ll save you the trouble if you’re interested. Not worth it. Although you pay less per bag and delivery is “free”, all in, you pay about $10 more in bag fees, service fees, and other shit. Oh, and delivery is only free the first three bags. Pet Food Express has always been a buck or two more expensive than almost anyone else on-line. But shopping Pet Food Express through Amazon? 100% not worth it.

I know Chewy and others do it. I just can’t remember why I didn’t go thru chewy before.

 

We've been using Chewy for quite a while now, but we have multiple dogs and used to have rodents until one daughter moved out. We do food and dental treats regularly, and we can throw in the odds and ends if needed. I have no idea if we could get a better deal, but it probably wouldn't save a ton.

I save the boxes - they are sturdy and make great moving boxes. You know, for when that last child finally moves out, the first child moves back in, or you want to ship that asshole cat to Timbuktu.

The old girl is 7 today.

 

Nature select was always a good food and delivered as well. It was a few dollars more than cheap stuff and very high quality when we had two 150lb Great Danes. We were really happy with it. Our GSP is all bougie so we got him on eukanuba puppy pro through Chewy now. We tried a few foods but he couldn't keep weight so we had to spend the money and put him on the expensive stuff for the time being. Damn "sporting" dogs!

 

question for those that have dogs and moved in with a spouse that had a dog or dogs of their own.

what did you do to get them to get along and not hate each other?
the gf will be moving in at the end of the month and bringing her dog lilly with her who we think is a Irish terroir mix? (she was dumped in a desert years ago so no idea what she is!) lilly is a very sweet dog but is 10 years old that has spurts of energy. vs my crack head 2 year old blue heeler who is a bouncing ball of energy lol. my dog eevee loves other people and has never had an issue with other dogs, even when she has had an issue she just lays down and flattens since she is not dominant at all she is very passive. lilly has always been a very sweet dog but has been attacked by a family members husky a few times because well she breathed wrong or something... we dont know why the husky is so twisted tbh...

ive done the typical take dogs on walks in a neutral area so they can get along in the past and its worked the only difference this time is well its not possible coming from a long distance relationship to being together.

the plan is to keep them in separate rooms for now ( for sleeping) until lilly gets use to her new home and try and always keep an eye on them so nothing happens... if anyone has some advice that would be great thanks

 

Some people say to introduce them on neutral territory first. Be patient and calm? Some dogs are very possessive about their toys, some are food aggressive. Avoid these situations if they might cause a problem. Some dogs instantly blend, some just never get along. Our female Shiba loved having a friend's hound mutt over and they would have a blast. But my wife's cousin had us keep his Frenchies for a week, and we had to keep them separated. My male Shiba just sticks to himself, gives warning growls, and removes himself from the area if that doesn't work. Supervise them and give them time, and they should be fine after a while.

 

thanks for the advice! thats overall the plan with toys and food since i think lilly is possessive of her food? eevee doesnt care lol she could eat or not eat and the little shit would still run wild! we really do hope they get along well so we can give lilly a great life in her old age unlike the one she has had where she has to hide in a room from the other dog...

 

It'll prolly be easier than you think. You have your girlfriend and her dogs scent on you, and she has yours as well. The dogs prolly already know each other thru the nose better than you realize.

 

that is true but i also havent met her dog yet. just getting other ideas on what to do if off the start they are kinda eh with each other.

 

Buddies. For some reason, the dog loves to have her face licked by the cat. She cozies up to her every chance she gets.

 

If you haven't met the dog yet, have her send a toy or something with the dogs scent on it (hers too) and get them in the house. It may soften the intro a bit.

That should. Get a couple more things and make the scent of both familiar.

 

Would be a bit difficult since we are states away. But I will give it a go and try when they are here
