I will admitthumbnail (5).jpg that I am the only one who spoils Daisy. Here she is waiting for her bacon and egg.

Late response, sorry- I had a 12 yo female yellow lab named Lola who had been with me solo since 8 weeks old when we decided to get our Aussiedoodle, Artie.

Lola was a well mannered hunting dog, fairly well trained, always came back when called, never showed any aggression.

Artie barks and runs up to people, drives me nuts, but he’s my wife’s dog and I try not to step on her toes. He’s a sweet guy, but not very obedient, pisses me off she doesn’t know how to manage him better.

When we lost Lola in March of 2023, I was heartbroken, she was my first dog, so we decided to get another, a black lab named Ruby I picked up in Minnesota at 8 weeks old.

The good- the two dogs love each other and are great companions. We have a lot of fun, they love to fetch and swim and play, and it just feels like a great life for the two of them.

The not so good- Ruby is at times really reluctant when approached by strangers and barks more than any lab I’ve ever known, I grew up with labs and they’re typically very approachable and sweet natured. I feel like the two of them rile each other up, and I honestly think Artie has taught Ruby some bad traits, such as the barking and at times I’ve gotta bellow at her to get her to come when there’s a distraction, which I definitely don’t like.

She’s learning to hunt birds and is amazingly athletic and her drive is insane, but at times she doesn’t listen, especially recall wise, which sucks. Is it related to Artie? I don’t know, and maybe I’m looking at Lola’s life through rose colored glasses, but Lola definitely listened better in the field- better at hand signals, directional command, and far and away better at recall, which is a bad trait Artie consistently does.

It definitely makes training the dogs more difficult, but it’s also more fun at times for everyone- not sure which is your top priority.
