These two shitheads are getting along better now. We still have issues with lilly being grumpy and as well Eevee who has picked up some bad habits from lilly... Mainly with food but we can feed them together no problems and they will lay on each other and play together! It's taken awhile to get to this point tbh.

 

My three have 100% learned each other’s bad habits.

 

yaaa thats the bad part... eevee was always a happy go lucky pup never growled never demanded food wouldnt get grumpy at other dogs. just wanted to play all day and run around or cuddle up as close as possible. she still does all of that but now we have the added she will growl to get her food when we are carrying it over to her spot. which ill point out she doesnt have her hackles raised so we think she is confused with the growling and is thinking its how she gets her food since lilly does it... lilly will growl but not in an aggressive way at well anything its just her way of basically barking for food for some reason? other one is lilly would growl and snap at eevee for no reason... that has sense been calmed down and thankfully eevee doesnt do that buuuut if lilly has one of her toys eevee gets very unhappy and will growl a bit since she is a bit to much toy obsessed... now eevee has growled once in anger when i had left the back sliding door cracked where they could basically poke a nose in and that was it while we were getting the food ready for them. this wasnt purposeful on leaving the door open it was slid shut and it bounced open a bit eevee stuck her nose into the door and lilly was standing over her and she was growling and showing her teeth but that didnt last long after she got scolded and dealt with...

overall they are way better then they were before and its great to actually be able to have both out full time instead of putting one up for bed or because one decided to be an ass..

 

Question for you guys that have lost one of your dogs - how long did any others mourn for? Gizmo is not a happy camper since we lost Zoie last week. Yes, I let her sniff and see Zoie's body, so she knows that I didn't just take her away....

 

I am really sorry for your loss. Its truly heartbreaking.

My dog Maggie was in the room when we lost Callie back in June (at the vet, lung cancer, she had stopped eating and could barely breathe) so she knows what happened.

Maggie was acting weird and sad and peeing herself for a couple weeks. She got over it eventually.

It depends. Sometimes, it takes a bit. It’s like people, sometimes you just gotta endure because they mean so much and other times, you’re sad for a short time.

Thank you. I didn't take Gizmo with me, but I did bring Zoie's body home for her to see and she sniffed for a minute and didn't seem to care. She hasn't been eating her breakfast until late afternoon and seems lost.... Previous dogs didn't seem to care their sister's were gone.

My condolences. It just sucks.
My first loss, it took me about a year to "be ready" for another, and even at that time, I didn't really feel ready, it was my family pushing me to get another dog.
More recently, my Remi I lost to cancer on February 9th this year, and since I can still remember the exact date she passed, I don't think it will come to a surprise that I am no where near ready yet...

I think it just depends on the mourning time...
