Alot of people ask that too lol! Riley was the smallest from the first litter and George the biggest from the second litter. She will be 3 in March and he is barely 2. We got to take them home when they were 8wks old from a good friend of ours.

Hey when(age) did your lab grow to his full potential? I have a 7 month old lab, hes about 75lbs and seemed to really slow down on his growth. He definitely needs to grow more but I dont know how much more time he has until he stops growing.

They're at their physical size around a year to year and a half. Might still put on weight until they're two-ish. And if you over feed or don't run 'em, till when ever

Based on what you've said, I'd guess you could be looking at around 95-100 pounds when he's done.

At a year and a half, you should be ok to run him. Just go easy at first.

RIP Baxter :( so sorry for your loss

Zoie is almost 8 months old and I"ve been running her with my bike for almost two months now. It's the ONLY way I can tire her out. silly retriever WON"T retrieve so I had to come up with an alternative way to tire her not so little butt out  She sure LOVES to run. How much exercise can I give her - so I can tire her out, but won't hurt her?

The theory goes that the joints and bone structure are more set at a year and a half or there about. Playing is OK but running her to exhaustion is probably over doing it--though I can see why you'd do it :D

One thing is the dog park. Both socialization and play time. There's a huge stimulation that comes from that.

On to the retrieving thing as that's always a good way to tire them out... Good luck with that :D

I don't run her to exhaustion - would love to, but don't want to hurt her. I have her hooked to my bike with a springer and I also have a leash attached to her collar so I can slow her down. After a run, she still has energy to run around the back yard and go for a walk - same distance as run ~ .9 of a mile. Even with that, she still has energy to play, but it's not hyper energy.

When Annie was a pup, Ollie would run around the back yard with her - they'd go round and round a couple dozen times a day - so she got tired out. Plus she'd chase Ollie's ball, just to steal it, so she got plenty of exercise with that, too.

But Annie won't run around the back yard with Zoie, except maybe once a day :( and she won't retrieve anymore.

When I visit my son, we go to the dog park - no dog park here in town :(. She's real good there, but doesn't do much running. She's good with other dogs.

I soooo wish she'd retrieve. I'd take her out 4 or 5 times a day, like I used to with Ollie.

I started using the bike as a last resort. If anyone has any other ideas, I'm all ears
