If she's part husky she should be fine.

Siberian summers are as brutal as their winters. Their coats are built to keep them cool in summer heat/sun

She looks like an amazing puppy btw!

This dog has the most bizzarre moves when she runs, really quick & all over the map, I have to tie her up when I'm outside working on trucks, etc;, she's not quite there yet as for not straying too far off leash, but she's getting better....I love her

Well, I am sitting here bawling like a school girl. My Chocolate lab is dead. I am stuck in Taiwan and I get a call that my neighbors got 2 pitbulls, they got into my yard and attacked my dog while my room mate was out. He actually killed one of the pitbulls but they tore him up good.

Bites over 90% of his body. Neck partially crushed, left rear leg crushed, stomach opened so his guts are showing. The police and my roomate rushed him to the vet. I cant afford 10K plus for the surguries and care it would have taken plus there is no garentee he would have made it. If he had he would not have been the same dog.

The worst part is that I got him while I lived in Japan, moved to Korea with him, then washington, california, hawaii, and back to washington. He has been with me as I went to war 3 times, twice to Iraq and 1 to Afghanistan. He has been there every time I came home from my travels for work. As other people have come and gone he has always been there no matter. All he ever wanted to do was be with me.

He was the best natural hunting down that most people had ever seen. He was never gun shy, never barked, never broke from the blind/my side early or without command. There was never a duck, goose, pheasant, and any winged thing he didnt find. His favorite thing was to go hunting and fetch golf balls. If we couldnt hunt we would go to the local ball field and I would pound balls 100 yards down range and he would bring them back and set up for the next one.

When he was a puppy he used to go to the race track with me when I raced motorcycles in Japan. He was our team mascot and would wander the pits around us, everyone loved him. In Hawaii I would put a back pack on him and he would chase after me on my dirt bike.

He protected my house 6 months ago when someone broke in by laying teeth into an intruder. He knew his job was to protect the house when I was not there. My job was to protect him and I failed miserably.

I am having him cremated and keeping his collar. I will put some of his ashes in his favorite hunt site and first place he put his mouth on real feathers. I love him and will miss him so much.
Here are some pictures of him over the years.

I am so very sorry for your loss!! What a beautiful Lab - it is never easy to lose such a loyal companion and not being there, I know, makes it seem even worse for you.

We had to help our Yellow Lab cross last year. She was a week short of 15 and her body just gave out. She was an amazing member of our family. We had her cremated and buried her ashes here at our place under a laser etched stone with one of our favorites pictures of her.

Again, I am so very sorry for your loss. Someone once told me that the pain we feel when we lose one of our animals is because they take a piece of our heart across the Rainbow Bridge with them - but they leave a piece of theirs here with us. Find that piece - it's there and will always be with you.

Really sorry for your loss extremachn1, beautiful dog and great pictures! Looks like some really good memories, he looks like one hell of a friend. I would not blame yourself, you couldn't do anything to prevent it from happening, just like he had a job, he knew you had a job. He seems like he is and always will be a great friend for you and he will be waiting to hunt with you again.

extremachn1 sorry to hear about your dog. It really is sad that owners can't be more responsible. He died trying to protect what he loved. It sounds like he did a hell of a job at that too.

extremachn1, don't know what to say except to say he was a beautiful dog and not unlike my chocolate.

Our dogs are special to say the least and to lose one is to lose a faithful companion. I'm sorry for your loss.

That is soooo fucked up brother I'm sorry for your loss, & I'm not going to turn this into a "breed" bashing contest...

But this is why I'd never own a pit & I know there'll be responses about how "their" pit is different & has never bitten or attacked anyone or anything, this falls on deaf ears as far as I'm concerned, you can't argue against genetic breeding (remember people , domestic dogs are man made, not of the natural world) They are bred for aggression & if any potential or current owner can't wrap their head around that fact , they really have no business owning one, I would def. file charges against neighbor, smart money says they have a history with these dogs getting out & raising hell .... just my $.02
