No, shes pure bred. I think it has to do with one of the parents being a white shepherd and dad being a black/tan? At least that was saga's case.

Tonight I lost my best friend. He was with me for a third of my life, my entire relationship with my wife and the better part of my adult life. I really didn't think it would hurt this much. Rest in peace little buddy. Dakota 1999-2012

I hope his passing was peaceful but I'm sure when the time came he knew he had taken care of you the best he could. Keep an eye out Dakota may steer a friend unbeknownst to the friend and want your help in taking care of him/her.

I know it's hard not to be Sad...but use that emptiness that is there to celebrate the years the two of you had with each other. Don't worry Dakota knows you and all your little habits and even in his passing he will from time to time show himself to let you know he is at the rainbow bridge. When your ready bring another friend into your life and love, hold and take care of the little furry person in a loving memory. I feel more than confident Dakota will steer another best friend to you...when you least expect it. I'm in Afghanistan and tonite I will say a special little prayer for your best friend.

Sam after (almost 2 years old). Somehow, "I Love Petsmart" always comes out the right way.

 

RIP Dakota. Hang in there T. I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through. I got my first dog two and a half years ago. I've already told my wife that the day something happens to this dog, I'm going to need a padded room.

 

It always hurts even though in our hearts we know it's time. Grieve how you need to grieve, take as much time as you need.

In due time the thoughts Dakota won't hurt as much as they will heal.
