    She's a beautiful dog.

Teach her "leave it" to start. The second thing you can do is try and put her toys out of reach. The desire to retrieve isn't really going to go away though.

Riley's nickname among is retriever friends is "the machine". These are the two things I do and for the most part, he's OK.

Rambo in all his glory. The last pic shows his "duh huh" personality. He ALWAYS lays with his paws crossed. But the 3rd is by far my favorite.

Great dogs here. Mine decided it was too hot today and went for an impromptu swim at the lake. Only problem is she's actually really afraid of water, so she got to this sandbar and she was too afraid to come back. I had to go for a little swim myself to get her. The water wasn't deep, maybe 4-1/2 feet, and I was walking back carrying her and she crawled up onto my shoulders and draped her body around my neck to stay out of the water. *Sigh* what a dork.

So... Yeah now my Tacoma smells like a wet dog. Febreeze and upholstery cleaner. Yikes!

Not sure how long it's been since the surgery but Boxers have the same problem. Try these two idea's they worked for my first Boxer and were used by Germans over in the Mannheim area...this is where I learned them.

#1 Take a regular stick match and tape it inside the ear on the out the most portion where the ear folds down. This will force the ear to remain upright. Leave in place or change out as necessary for 3-4 weeks.

#2 Take a plastic tampax applicator and place it inside the ear then wrap with tape. Leave in place for 30 days. This will also make the ear stand upright and will train it to remain erect.

Let us know how it works for you and which method you tried. If your dog has gone more than 90 days with the floppy ear you may not be successful but it's still worth a try. You can see my Boxers ears in my sig blk....
