I feed the Turkey & Sweet Potato. Riley is right as rain and has maintained his weight/fitness. I think it's definitely easier on his skin and when talking to the vet, she was OK with the brand and ingredients.

HAHAHA great pic! Ill have to check those brands out if I decide to switch. I've heard good thigns about those at Costco.

As far as the blue brands like Blue Buffalo, My chihuhuha (sp) loved it, but it gave my lab mud butt. The lil guy can eat anything. I have a pic of him on a paddle board Ill post up.

I tried Blue Buffalo as well and it gave both my Australian Shepherds the runs... Switched back to Limited Ingredient Natural Balance... No grains, bison and sweet potato. They love it and they both do really well on it.

You need to change them over to the new food gradually. Like 75/25 for a day or two then 50/50 for a day or two and 25/75 for a day or two then 100% new stuff. Otherwise, mud butt.

Yes. I left that out, thought it was understood. I spread it out over about a week period. Still a no go.

We don't use blue buffalo out of principle - one of the employees at our pet place is a rep and she pushes that stuff like crack.

"Hi, how are you? Have you seen our Blue Buffalo line?"

"Yup, last week when we were here. And the week before that. Please leave us alone."

Took the dogs out last weekend. This is what we got. The shorthair Cole wasnt a huge fan of the water, but by the end of the day he was good. Im super busy the rest of this summer, but next summer I'm going to try to get the lab to some competitions, and between now and then do some training. See if we can get a little bit farther. Pretty good for absolutely no training, for either me or him.

it seemed like a never ending battle when it came to finding the rite food for our new puppy. we are going to try bill jack and simply nourish. they compare rite up there with the top brands but dont cost an arm and a leg. trust me money isnt the thing, its just that i want to know im getting the best if im paying for it. if anyone has any sugestions that would be cool.

YOur going right with Bil-Jac. I suggest you start with the refrigerated bil-jac until he's older if you can feed the baby something like that....

I would recommend steering away from rawhides...they can't always digest them properly and cause thousands of $$$ in vet bills. friend had her husky chew on one and then a piece got stuck in the small intestine.

^^ yep, have seen this too at work over the years more than once. Some dogs never have any issue at all. Other dogs it's like $1000 of diagnostics and surgery. Who knows.

I give my dog shed deer antlers to chew on (you can buy them sawed up just for dogs, or be cheap like me and find them while hiking). He likes them, they don't splinter or stink like smoked bones, and are less tooth-cracking than raw beef femurs. I also take Kongs and fill them with canned dog food, yogurt, whatever and then put them in the freezer. It takes him a while to get the frozen food out but it helps when he's left home alone.

I've seen deer antlers in the stores here lately... wonder how fast Zoie would eat them... she can eat half a knuckle bone in 3 hours and my kongs are all one level bee hives now

Riggs is so cute. I really like Vizslas and am sort of tempted to get one as my next dog. I like the softie Velcro dogs.

The antlers have worked out well for my dog and a few fosters too; they don't splinter and just wear down. The big ones last roughly as long as the Nylabone Galileo but are cheaper since I can find them on walks. If you're buying them the AntlerZ brand seems "tastiest" to the dogs. I personally haven't sampled them though. :p
