Ok well I have got an issue. My year and half old GS got out of her cage went downstairs, pulled an entire cooked chicken off the counter, and ate the ENTIRE THING!!:goingcrazy:

My aunts a vet and said the most concerning is the elastic band that can get caught in their GI tract. She is clearly sorry and guilty, notice the empty plate next to her. Any vets or anyone with "experience" with this stuff?? Thanks in advance.

That sucks. Intestinal blockage is a serious thing.

Watch your pup for the following: vomiting, the squirts or lethargic behavior. All of these could indicate an intestinal blockage. If you notice your pup isn't eating or drinking, this escalates things and you probably should think about going to your vet-at least calling.

Your vet might want to do one of a couple of things. The first is to x-ray. If there's nothing conclusive, you might be on the barium train-this is where the dog is anesthetized and barium is induced. X-rays are taken at intervals to see how it's flowing through the digestive system. Hopefully, it's "clear".

I know this because I've been down this path three times  The first time scared the shit out of me. Riley was maybe 12w old at the time. Couldn't get to the vet fast enough. Second time was maybe a few weeks later and that was the barium treatment. Both were inconclusive-evidence in his poop later on. Third time, being well versed, I didn't panic and all was well.

I don't feed my dog bones so I cannot tell you if that's gonna be a problem. It could easily be. If nothing's happening now, I'd make a list of numbers just in case. Emergency vet and directions to the place. And your vet's contact info.

Hope it all turns out OK.

At 16 weeks mine did this with Lobster Shells. Tipped the outside trash can over, and ate almost all of the remains of 3 1.5lb hardshell lobsters from the night before:eek:. He seemed fine for a little bit, but by the end of the day swelled up and looked like he had a basket ball inside of him because he couldn't pass a thing. We were up at the Mrs parents summer place in Maine, had to drive 45 minutes to a 24hr emergency vet in NH with the dog howling the whole way. Very scary, the Mrs was quite hysterical and I was pretty shaken.

Fortunatly they were able to give him morphene and muscle relaxers and this allowed him to pass the shells. Otherwise it would have been surgery. Never the less, it was a very scary and very expensive overnight visit to the vet. Had to feed him a boiled hamburger and rice diet for the next month.

Moral of the story, puppies are indiscriminate eating machines.

I can't even get mine to finish a cookie in one sitting. She gnaws on it for a little while then comes back to it later. Maybe she doesn't like the cookies I bought. Rawhides, however, she will chew until her mouth is bleeding.

She is horribly underweight, whether she was a stray or owner surrender I don't know, but she was starved to the point I can see ribs, spine, hips, and those little bone ridges on her temples. It's going to take a while to get a growing puppy back to a healthy weight. And while I'm normally opposed to putting clothing on a dog, with no body fat she just can't handle the cold weather, so I bought her a sweater. My poor baby. Strangely though, for a dog that was obviously starved, she's not aggressive around food at all. I can put my hands in her bowl while she's eating and she ignores me completely.

    The better coast

My dog decided to eat a half pound chocolate bar he managed to get to, foil, cardboard, the whole shabang.

He was either constipated or shooting out explosive diarrhea.

He loved his chicken and rice diet though.
