Here's my little guy, Jax. He's mixed with German Shepherd and something else...the shelter thought he was mixed with GSD and Rottweiler when I adopted him at 2 months old, but now at 10 months and 40lbs I don't think that's what it is. Either way, he's the best dog I could've asked for!

Believe me I really want to, but I got 2 people to convince first. My dad, and his fiancé. Ever since Buddy died, dad has been a real stickler on the getting another dog subject, but he does want a german shepherd when we do. He just seems too hesitant, been 2 months since Buddy died. I know for fact that Buddy wouldn't want us to let dogs in shelters waste their life away in cages, or worse be put down when we are perfectly capable of giving them a loving home. His fiancé does not have her heart set on a shepherd, wants either a rotty or a newfoundland. Dad don't want a rotty, and I am concerned about a newf simply because the amount of food a dog that size would go through, idk if we can afford that plus our other 2 dogs. I had a saint bernard when I was growing up and believe me, big dogs eat a lot! With that combination, I would guess 50lbs of food would last maybe a week and a half tops. I am in college, but if I lived on my own, I'd have adopted him already without question.

I don't know, but I think I'm seeing border collie. Still looks like a good pup, and good on ya for rescuing.

If your dad definitely wants a German Shepherd you can rescue purebreds as well as mixes, this is one of the ones I found in Montana:

    There's probably others too

My wife and I are getting ready to do a rescue. We were looking at a 3 y.o., 85# Black Lab Rottie mix, but he got scooped up from under us! The volunteers had misplaced some paperwork and it turned out the the other had theirs in first.
Now we are considering a 10 m.o. Yellow Lab Pointer mix. Little higher energy has the wife a bit concerned. But we have 10ac and he supposedly is a good retriever.
For those that have dogs that are good retrievers, this is the best way to control their energy levels: [IMG]
Can toss tennis balls 150-200 ft. My moms dog will do this for hours then sleep for days!

I will post pics of said dog when all shakes loose.

Resembles my Mal and they are amazing dogs. They need constant, consistent and regimented training or else things can get out of hand. That would be simple for many owners but this is not the leave and let be kind of breed. Roxy, my pup, has learned patience. Granted it took quite some time, the rewards from her training are amazing. Also, she is a rescue and I do believe that she is grateful everyday that she is with me instead of the kennel. Best of luck to you and your next dog.

Yes, I love those things! And I don't have to touch the ball either, they get really gross really fast. Best fetching utensil ever made right there, chuckit has probably made a fortune off that. I got about 3 of those around my house.
Beautiful looking dogs! Like your bike too, is that a CR500?

When I lived on the river in Louisiana, we used tennis raquets to do the same thing....wish we would have had one of these though....

When I finally get a dog, I'm gonna have one for sure.
