Thanks! One more week until I'm home to see the little guy again!

This probably sounds weird, but it sucks not having him sleeping on my bed while I'm sleeping. Took a little while to get used to that haha

Anyone ever had to deal with hip dysplasia with their dogs? My boy is starting to rabbit hop and they said that's an early warning sign

Ive heard that Shephards are pretty prone to getting hip and leg problems, Been really watching my boys legs when he runs and shit, Dont need a huge vet bill for a broken leg! lol

I would talk to a trainer or breeder for whatever pup you have, In my experience breeders can be very helpful!

Not personally. I have a friend whose Labrador had it. There are a variety of procedures you can do to mitigate it.

In a nut shell, the hip socket is deformed and the ball of the femur doesn't fit correctly. This causes arthritic pain. Although it's considered hereditary, doing things like jogging before the bones are fully grown can exacerbate it-until a dog is about a year and a half, the bones aren't fully grown. The only real way to know if it's dysplasia is via an x-ray.

    Good luck with your pup.

I'm not in favor of this but if your trying to save his life...how about a bark collar? Like I said I'm not crazy about it but you could use to break his barking then try positive and negative rewards for what you want to see....

She has to nap on the couch, or a blanket, or something else soft she thinks she is a human... My wife did that to her, my lab that I had prior to being married thinks sleeping on carpet is living large!

My old shephard had it :( Thank fully it didn't get bad until she was about 10 or so. Over the next year, it got progressively worse. She also had something wrong with her back.

Good luck with your pup. If he/she has any extra weight on, a diet is in order.

Ya bought a huge bag of puppy First Choice for sensitive skin, been mixing it with hollistic wet dog food. He just slams it down so fast, I noticed the faster he eats, the more he farts. Bostons are known for the gassy ways because of their short snout. Aparently they swallow alot of air when eating... Either way as soon as this jumbo size bag winds down I will be switching to acana or orijen.
