Here's my new addition, Guinness! Got him him from a local rescue about 5 weeks ago. He is about 4 months old now. Nobody knew what the parents were, so if you had to guess, what breeds would you think he is?

:woot: So proud of my puppy, i've been teaching him to retrieve for about a week, today was the first day he was off his leash while retrieving to see how he'd do with a long throw, i threw it and it bounced along the pathway and bounced into some weeds about 12'' tall, he waited for me to tell him "go get it", then took off, he didn't know where it was so he started working a pattern and found it in 30 seconds :woot:

I think he's doing really good for being just shy of 5 months old, and for only seeing a dog work a pattern once.

Just thought i'd brag about my puppy

It's always nice to know your buddy has good knowledge and listening skills, I hate when I have to yell at my dog because its a reflection of how I'm training him, I need to figure out a new approach for him bolting out of our door constantly when we try to leave.

We trained our dog so that the doorway is a barrier he is not allowed to cross without permission. You should give that a try. It works pretty good. Just leave the door open and walk back and forth through the door, everytime he tried to go out correct him so he stays at the doorway.

I always make him sit and stay but the thing is its the same door that we let him out on a rope through so i think he just gets confused. I dont want to punish him for something that is instinct but he really needs to learn before he does something stupid like get lost in the mountains. Recently thought about getting a spray bottle or a noise horn for whenever he attempts to run without permission.

    I'll try not to.
It is very nice to know he isn't stupid when it comes to retrieving, so far he only has one vice, he doesn't always obey, but he's not scared of noise or strange things, and he's very active, so he'll turn out perfect if i do my part.
He also get's jealous when our other dog beats him to the ball when they play fetch.
