those are some good looking dogs.

All 3 of our dogs get exercise. We have 5 acres that they can run around on when we take them out. But I think she is also starting to have real joint problems.

    more info below.
yeah we all ways go out with all 3 dogs, to make sure they don’t run down drive way and into road, or the yorki gets taken a way by a hawk or something. and yeah we talk to her and pet her, but also I think some times it makes it worse because when we can’t really pet her as much or all gone a lot during the day she gets a lot worse. I’m not sure she is going blind, it has been 3 or 4 months since she was at vet last, but in that time i have noticed them getting very cloudy. We don’t like the decision either. only really thinking about it because she is so old,(she is at least 13 but maybe 14) we talked and were saying how if the meds are not really helping any more, how much can we change stuff, when she is still going to have some stress/fear/anxiety and for how long maybe a year or so longer. maybe it’s best for her that he put her down so she is not dealing with all that and stressing out anymore. I know if she was younger and they said she has you know 3 to 5 years let and all it was, was her going blind we could deal with that no problem.

I know it's costly but I would go with another vet and a second opinion! To take her life may cause you some grief later in life not knowing if you did the right thing. Prayers are with you. But another vet I would think would be a better way to go at this point. There maybe something else that is driving her into this anxiety and it could be medical.

True! Haha it's crazy how fast these guys got so close. When I go to let my boy out of his kennel if I don't let the other one out at the same time he will just sit there and stare at me. He has been shedding something out of control lately though, our house is covered! Damn shepherds lol

My newest problem with our newest "child" is his newfound need to assert his dominence to our older female dog. Not sure if i should seperate them when he goes at her or... IDK i havent with dominence problems as this is our frist male-female ownership time... Anybody got any good tricks? OH and barking as well.

MOST definitely stop him when he's showing dominance!! Just tell him to stop and if that doesn't work, say "no" and gently touch his side and give him something to do - "bed" or "kennel" or just "out". YOU are the dominant, pack leader, not him. YOU go out the door first. YOU say "OK" so he can eat. YOU decide if he can get on the bed/couch.

This is how i usually am with him, But very randomly our girl dog (shasta) will try and take his bone or his food or something and its ON front there like its just a quick growl, Bark, Snap and (shasta) bows down and leaves but i do not like that kind of behavior. Hes shown the same aggressiveness with me when i took his bone away and i know its probably not the best learning technique but he his ass beat and but into a kennel. Bone got thrown away and that seemed to chill him out. Just cannot have a dog that is aggressive towards anyone espeically the alpha male in the house. I know theres always the fact that he might have to go but i refuse to believe he cant be trained.

Do not ever beat/hit your dog!!

Does he let you roll him over on his back?

If SHE is trying to take something, then you need to put her in her place. YOU take the bone, toy, whatever and give it back to the dog that had it first. If she goes after HIS food, you tell HER no.

When he is eating, tell him "out" or whatever you want to use to claim his bowl. Do not move the bowl, make him leave. He can only eat when YOU say it's ok. Put your hand in his bowl or take the bowl away. You are the alpha and should be able to do anything to him and he just allow it.

Do the same to Shasta. They both need to know their place.

It won't happen overnight, but consistency is key.

My 50lb Dutch Sheperd tried to dominate my roommates 100lb American bulldog/ Great Dane for the first few days when I got him, but he grew out of it pretty quick. It was real annoying for a little bit though

Tora is the guy and Shasta is the girl.

Shasta doesnt have a problem, She attempts to take toras stuff which firmly instigates a fight. Nothing serious just a growl bark and maybe snapping. Either way this is NOT the way i want him to act, I have a 7 year old coming to visit this summer so i Honestly DO NOT trust him right now, I can roll him on the back and everything he justs very possessive.

This is serious. Susan gave you some advice that was very good. Bottom line is the behavior Tora exhibits is not acceptable.

Anybody here feeding Canidae pure food?

We think the pup might be allergic to lamb since pretty much everything we fed him had lamb in it (except once) and he is always scratching. Bought a bag of canidae pure sea to see if that stops his scratching. Already made the switch to grain free and he's doing better overall on it, but going to try and figure out his scratching.
