A lot of Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever breeders are into the RAW diet, especially in Canada. About 10-12 years ago it really started to take off.

Nice dog! And I hope you have many years of great times with him. I've heard it said that bird dogs point and toilets flush  but my Toller is an upland hunter. He is getting old but in the meantime I'm going to make the best of what little time I have left with him.
SD him and I going after ditch chickens. We do pinch ditches but most of the time are in the fields, it is some big country.

We also go after the limb chicken and do a lot of ruff grouse hunting in Mn. and Wi. Even get lucky and pull a double once in awhile. Although it his work and my luck that is the cause of it.

First week I got the AC Taco I ripped out the back seats, console and headrests to make a platform for him. The wood is sitting in the den right now waiting for the final coat of spar varnish to dry. This weekend will get it put together and mounted in the truck with a bench cushion for him. Like someone else said it is his truck anyhow he just lets me drive it.

I've got a similar one from ll bean, seems to hold up really well. Though, you have to but the bed and the cover separately, so they're not cheap

    $20. Costco.

The Carhartt is gonna shred just as easily as the cheap stuff. OK, it might take a bit longer

Went out to Parkfield yesterday to have lunch and catch up with some friends. For those who might not know, Parkfield is about 30 miles away from anywhere and a spot where dogs sleep in the road (and don't move much when you drive by). If you live anywhere near there, go have a burger or a steak.

They have a fountain too. And look who's in it...

I'm thinking that since the fabric is thicker he might have a more difficult time chewing through it so he'll just give up. We normally would just buy the cheap $10 beds at Tractor Supply but he can rip those up in about .3 seconds..

Nah. My jacket isn't much thicker than Riley's dog bed. The other thing about those costco beds is they're filled with cedar chips-so he ends up smelling nicer :D

Have you tried giving him a Nylabone or something to chew on instead?

I think he might be having fun in that last pic. Not 100% on that though.

 she just looks so sad sitting there.

He destroys them = NO COMFY Bed  Don't get him something he's gonna destroy. Wait until he's older and past his chewing stage to get him a good bed. Just get him a towel or let him sleep on the cold, hard floor

Thats what we had to do with our GSP. He destroyed two beds, so we gave him a towel, he tore it up, so it was the floor for him. After our lab passed we let him migrate to the labs old bed. Its been a few months and he hasnt chewed it up at all. Dont know if it clicked in his head, or he just passed the chewing stage or what. But he sleeps on a comfy bed now.

That's what Ollie did when she was a pup... When she outgrew the chewing stage, she got a comfy bed again.

Here's Cole, rarely they get to come out of the laundry room where they sleep. You cant see it, but here he is cuddled up to the wife in front of the fire.

And here is Roscoe after he got all cleaned up and his hair cut. He is our rescue pup.

Dex is only just over a year old so maybe in a few months we'll see how he handles a bed.. he's torn up blankets too but none recently. He did manage to destroy a petco plush dog in under a minute a week ago though..

I owe the individual that realized elk antlers are a good dog toy a beer, that's about the only toy we give him that lasts.

@skidoo, Roscoe looks like a K9 wolverine in that pic haha

Annie never destroyed her bed, but any stuffed toy was a gonner within 10 minutes of me giving it to her and she did that until she was close to 7 yo.

GSD's are just crazy. Our male will chew up everything in his kennel if we have to lock him in there but will leave everything alone if he is not locked up. Our female will leave her bed alone while locked in the kennel but if we leave her loose at home she will tear things up and then instigates our male into helping.

I won't dare show the wife those Carhartt ones. They will be on order before I can yell NOOO!!!! :D

My GSD is good with beds its when he gets toys i have yet to find a toy that he cant tear through in minutes....its rediculous than my black lab on the other hand doesnt chew anything and is like a person...but my GSD is 8 months old so thats probably a big part of it. if anyone knows of some heavy duty squeak toys let me know cause he'll chew through everything short of kevlar!
