    no worries

Zoie, my choco pup was born on the Anniversary of my mom's death. So something good happened on that day. Didn't find out her birthday, until the day I picked her up and looked at her AKC paperwork.

OMG! That must have been a nice "welcome home Dad- I hope you've learned your lesson and never leave me home alone again" hahaha. I think when Rosco was a puppy he destroyed his dog bed like 4 times in a row before he finally realized that meant he wasn't getting a new one...right away that is (I have a weak spot for the boy and so he always got another one eventually). But now he is past that stage...thank GOD and can be trusted to stay at home with the run of the house and not do anything mischievous. Although I believe he probably farts on my pillow.

How do you get him on the paddle boards? I have a terrier mix that took about 2 years to learn water is fun. He now loves running in the surf at the beach chasing his ball. I've been wanting to get him on a board and see if he will ride with me. He doesn't love swimming, he did well when we tried it in a pool but it was panic swimming of him making a b line to the edge to get out.

I remember one of my Drill Sergeants continuously telling us his dogs could match better than we could. One day he came in with a pair of Rottweilers and you know what? They did a pretty good job of staying in step.

A few years later when I was a squad leader I brought my four year old daughter to work and had her doing D&C to the amazement of my troops. She was good. I can't get her to listen to anything I say anymore. :D (She's grown now).

Hahaha! Yea I hear a lot of my Drill Sergeants telling their platoons that their kids can do more push ups or run faster than them...haha. Sadly, I think that is true. I have Soldiers in Training falling out runs the second we leave the Company Area - I've threatened....(jokingly of course) to put cookies in each of their PT short pockets and then count to 10 before letting Rosco loose. It gets them up and moving..for about 30 seconds. haha. But hey I guess we all got to start somewhere!

yeah, that's what ours does. swims just fine, but looks for the quickest way out of the water. loves to run around on the beach and splash around at the edge of the water.

I usually just walk the paddle board out to the waist deep water with him already on it, that way, he realizes he'd rather stay put than make the swim back to shore. other option is that my fiancé will take him out on the kayak instead of the paddle board, and we'll put him on the paddle board when we're a ways out. I just need to get a traction pad for the board now. he slips off of it pretty easily if the water's a little rougher.

another sunny day, and another boat yesterday. took the pup out on my folks boat. quite a bit bigger than the 22 footer he's gotten used to. needless to say, he enjoyed lounging in the sun and the bay breeze just the same.

Does anyone have a problem with their pup being able to jump up to the back seat or floor? Mine just stands there thinking "your gonna pick me up, right?" and my truck only has a 3" lift on it, doesn't seem that tall for him!?! Which btw - I have a 1 year old - 70lb choco lab.

Riley does this once and a while. He's tipping at 110#... I think a lot has to do with his ability to see where he's going-like jumping into a black hole. Or he's just "lift my ass into the truck" :D

Haha yes. Normally if he's just standing there when I open it he just stands there looking at me, so I'll circle him around and with a running start he can make it up.

My 80 lb golden doodle does the same. She could jump on the hood if she wanted to but won't jump up into the truck. She'll jump down & out though.

Archer won't jump in on his own yet, he got a foot caught in the slider early on.
Brings up another question, do you guys worry about your dogs getting caught in the sliders jumping out? I am freaked out that he may drive a front leg between the bars and break it on his way out. I always place my arm/hand down to cover it, but it can still happen.

I had my sliders built with zero degree offset and had expanded steel filler put in for that very reason. Snow and mud fall through, well for the most part LOL. But the peace of mind is worth it to me. Need to get around to taking a better picture with the dog
    [IMG]

Toller is 7 months old now and sometimes will jump in on his own. I tried treats to tempt him to do it on his own but they don't seem to be enough incentive. Last couple of weeks I have been throwing a ball in the back seat and he flies right in after it with no problem.

Annie jumps right in. Zoie uses my running boards as a step, both getting is and out. Wonder if it has to do with the size of the dog. Annie weighs ~ 62 or 63 lbs and Zoie is ~ 75 and a good three inches taller
