These 2 pens are the same size. Probably half an acre each.

It's like that at ours. Except the people with the teacup sized dogs don't go to the small dog side...

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
We just found out today that Fern has Angiostrongylus vasorum, otherwise known as French Heartworm (lungworm). We noticed she's been a little off. It is not typically found in the US, but in Europe and there's been cases in Nova Scotia. We took a stool sample in December which was negative. But this recent one they found it, so we're hoping we caught it quick, and there will be no long term affects. I'm just asking if anybody has any experience with this particular parasite? Information is vague, due to lack of cases. The vet is treating her with Panacur, which has successfully treated the worm in other situations. Any info would be great. And keeping with the thread topic... My two furry best friends.

We rescued a poodle/Cavalier King Charles mix that had heart worm (she'd been feral for a short time). The treatment made her sick, but after 6 months she was heartworm free. Her energy levels went way up after the treatment finished, and we are slowly building her heart and lungs up so she has better endurance. We did have to switch her to an easy to digest food for a while because she was vomiting her normal food. Since she's been on Heartgard there has been no recurrence.

Never heard of it, but hope the treatment works quickly and she is back to normal very soon!!

Glad to hear she is on the road to recovery. The hard part is this isn't a "regular" heartworm. It affects heart and lungs from what I've been reading. It's unusual for this part of the world. Usually found overseas. Becoming common in Europe, but not so here. So treating it hasn't become commonplace in the states :(

Neither have some vets. Sounds like we will be dealing with it in the US more frequently soon, but hopefully not too soon. Thank you for the support.
