Partially. Wife HAD to know, so she paid the $85 a piece to have them genetically tested.

The little one (Kiki) is poodle/fox terrier/Chihuahua (and sweet as pie), and the bigger one (Lucy) is Bichon Frise/Poodle/Chihuaua/Jack Russell (and has murder in her heart unless you're in "the circle of trust").

It's weird how similar they look when their coats come in. Kiki has some fight in her, and at 10 pounds plays just as hard as Lucy at 15.

Picked them up a year apart. Wife was looking for Lucy, and then a year later Kiki just kind of happened by happy accident. They're inseparable, which is awesome because Lucy really does have serious trust issues with people and other dogs. She obviously spent a lot of time feral - she goes ballistic when cicadas show up. Gobbles them down like nuggets. I've seen her eat katydids and scorpions too - she don't mess around!

So, what's Annie's story? How'd she come to adopt y'all?

Dang that is crazy! We its good that they get along.

We went to the shelter one day just to look/give the dogs some love and she was in the back. She was an owner surrender with an ear infection the previous owners just ignored and it got so bad it required surgery.

She did this stand up on 2 legs, beg and whine thing and we knew she needed to come home with us. Turns out she was going to be put down the next day and a rescue picked her up, once we found the rescue we worked with them on the surgery and brought her home.

That's awesome! The universe meant for that dog to end up in your home. Good for both y'all.

Just going through some files and came across one of my favorite pics of Sadie. This was a couple years ago when we were doing the Show stuff. Didn't last long. It's a pain in the ass. She won her breed this day. She was two years old then. 4 now. Hunting is our only past time now. Which was the plan all along.

And this is her recently during training. Wish she would point like this all the time. This is a rare, classic, point. Most of the time she's shaking with anticipation, and her tail is quivering at high speed, and I swear she's going to jump out of her skin if the bird doesn't fly soon.

Like that pix. I always liked that level front to back point. Its old school. Don't care for the cranked head and 12 o'clock tail.
Hope to see her in person in January.

I wish you pointer gentleman well! With the dogs you all have I do agree a solid line is the ultimate in a pointing dog. With the exception of an English Setter. The flag is the reason for owning a pointer IMO however with the Setter retrievers leaves a lot to be desired. But the flag is not to be denied. Just saying...

Tried a Lew couple of years ago and range was an issue [IMG]

The level point just didn't cut it with me. Wet tail he never met a puddle he didn't like, and the tail is everything with a pointer IMO.

Hopefully leave Wednesday for SD and phez and waterfowl. Happy with the flusher but keep looking at the beautiful pointing dogs too...

And pleased with the flushing ability of the pup so far

    Absolutely correct on the setters!

Good luck in SD. I might get up there later this year.

Still too hot for me and the mutts.

Never been. Got a bud who knows the Miller area. If I don't go with him, I'll work off of his recommendations.
West Kansas and NW Missouri keep me pretty busy.

We hunt out of Eureka up on the ND border. We cover quite a bit of ground. Hit the lottery and got drawn for waterfowl this year. So ducks in the morning and phez after 10. Makes for a long day though. Friend lives in Spearfish and has been to the house in Eureka hunting several times. Numbers are down, way down. Heard the NE is pretty poor too, not sure about down where your at. We normally have access to a lot of sections that are privately owned but the landowner stepped in a damn badger hole and damaged his leg and took surgery to repair it. So will be a tough a year. The ducks are starting to move South so that is good. Just got back from Fleet Farm to get materials to build a Tolling blind. My dog will be my decoy for the ducks but they only fall for that trick once. Typing this just remembered to add bumpers to the packing list for tolling, thanks LOL.

This was at the National Specialty a year ago when he was one. He will turn himself inside out going after bumpers. Will know how he does on ducks in a few days.

Training and test blinds are black, I just picked up camo burlap for hunting.
