image.jpg finally starting to grow lol just hit 4.5 Months. Working on socializing her as best as I can. Some days can't even hear a dog in the distance without her reacting. Some days if a dog comes up to her she gets so scared she runs between my legs with a Mohawk down her back, and some days she could care less about dogs and walk right past them:confused: she doesn't seem to care for people either, though she doesn't react to them. She goes to dog day camp and she literally doesn't care about other dogs in there and has no issues. Also no issues in training with other dogs, even found a dog she LOVED in there

My friend has had five, this will be his sixth. He works them and trains them well. 4 of the 5 have gone through the testing and been exceptional. The fifth is a good a field dog as the others he just didn't both going to the expense, time travel and effort of testing. This pup has blood lines way beyond any other he has had. Really looking forward to it.

I've helped him set tracks and train some and it is a real privilege to see a good dog work a track. Watched them follow a 40 hour old 8 oz blood trail over 2000m once without ever wavering from the track. They track, retrieve and point as well as any dog I've seen, but not recommended if you have house cats around....unless you really don't like the house cats. They are not necessarily aggressive but their instinctive drive for prey is pretty strong.

    Sweet!

I have a pair of poodle/terrier mixes. You're in for a fun ride. They're smart. They're playful. For their size, they're strong. They don't shed. They are ADORABLE. They are master cuddlers.

    You WILL be professionally cuddled.

Congrats, and have fun with your pup!

Yes, did a lot of research (my wife will tell you I do too much damn research) on the right kind of dog for our family and all of those traits are why we chose this specific cross breed!

We have 2 small dogs (wife's of course) that are cute and all but not what I want in a dog, I wanted something bigger that can be active with me. Go for runs, long walks, swim, etc. Also get along with kids and other animals! We were pretty specific about the breeder as well, found someone that raises the pups in an active home with other animals and kids as well.

Non-shedding was a must. I have some minor allergies and really hate cleaning up all the bloody hair from the 3 lovely ladies that live in my house, didn't need fur from a shedding dog as well. :)

heh, if you don't want to clean up hair, NEVER get a Labrador. they shed enough hair to knit a sweater weekly.

Between my white dog and 2 white cats. They shed so much, we know how clouds are formed. I brush them out every day and sweep just about every other day and still get tumbleweeds. Did I mention I have a brown couch. Its your problem if you cant stand the fur, but I wouldnt trade them for the world.

Labs have been breed horribly for about 20 years now. I've been raised with Labs my whole life. My Dad had Labs who won
field trial and show championships before show breeders and judges turned their backs on field trial Labs. I've seen $300 dollar
Labs that are awesome and $2000 dollar Labs that are knuckleheads and couldn't retrieve one single tennis ball. I've had knucklehead
Labs from a top breeder and a once in a lifetime Lab I got from a oops family litter I've loved everyone of my Labs whether its from a field trial line
or show line. Each Lab is special and unique. You really should base the puppy you get from the mom and dad. Really look at their parents
personality and looks. I hate seeing the fox red or silver Labs. Those are bad genetic traits that should never be considered real Labs.

Just remember that "white" and "chocolate" are two colors that are genetic variants of black and or yellow-there was a time chocolates were culled because black was "the desirable" color-me personally? Black or chocolate for the win :D

For me Labs come in three colors. Yellow, Blacks, and Chocolate's. Some yellows just happen to be white.

But as white is a variant of yellow so to is chocolate from yellow or black and silver of chocolate :) Regardless, you are correct that chocolate, black, and yellow are the three recognized colors of the Labrador Retriever.

And congrats to your pops on his champions.
What? I have friends with the same "problem" but they are great in so many other ways.

Oh, I do. I just haven't owned one yet ;)

I just hope whatever color Labrador you choose, it's forever.

This is Merlin, he's a Cardigan Corgi rescue that we are helping transport to his new family on our return trip from Texas for the holidays. Little dude is really funny with his short little legs and big feet. His ears are as big as our GSD's ears.
