My two knuckleheads are alumni of our city-run animal shelter.

Jake (aka Bubba) is about 5 or 6 years old now. Adopted him back in August of 2014. Looks like a Lab-American Bulldog mix.

Jake @ Jackson Meadows Reservoir in 2014 just a few weeks after after I adopted him. Great camp dog.

I adopted Jelly just about a month after Jake.

Looking forward to more trips with these two.

Retired Greys are the best. I have had the pleasure of having two of them share my life. Truly my favorite breed next to Danes.

He's pretty damn awesome! He's so loving and such a couch potato. The wife and I are planning on getting him a buddy this year since they do so well with a companion.

Only thing better than one grey is two. Or grey was 9 when we got a rescue pup. He was like a new dog. He only slept 22 hours a day after that. Sadly we lost him about 9 months later to bone cancer. But we had a great 4 1/2 years with him.

Losing a pet is never easy. They become members of the family real quick! We got tony when he had just turned two, so we've hopefully got quite a few years with him.

My first grey was just under two when we got her straight from the track. She lived to 14 1/2. And that was with having Lymes.

Oh man, look at her... She's just ready to attack! Hahaha! It's too bad some people have to be that way. I'm so glad I grew up always having a dog in the family. All of us are animal lovers. Dogs, especially. I've always had a soft spot for the bully breeds, too. Those big, shovel heads. Gotta love em!

It has been a year this week since we lost Simon to cancer. Our 3 year old still asks about him. My wife did a wine night at an art studio so we now have a painting to remember him.
