Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
Polar was on Blue Buffalo as a puppy. We recently switched him to Natures Variety. He seems the same or better overall. It is corn, wheat, and soy free. It is also made to rotate easily. We have used the 3 kinds our store has and not a problem with any. We did find that he seems to have an alergy to something in Milk Bones. We don't feed him them, but my aunt who lives next door does. We actually use Bil-Jac frozen as treats. He loves it!! Only one distributer close so hard to get a hold of. I also make homemade pumpkin/peanut butter treats(corn, wheat and soy free) and we use freeze dried beef liver. I learned to read labels a long time ago, and now I do it for my dog!! LOL

Isn't it amazing how the most advertised, well known brands are the worst. And they must be expensive cause they advertise so much, because it isn't due to high quality ingredients!!

my dog is allergic to grain as well. we gave her science diet at first and she had a pretty bad skin reaction. Since then we have been feeding her the Natural balance Low Ingredient Diet food. She loves the sweet potato and venison formula. its a bit expensive but, its worth it to keep out baby healthy and happy. here she is reppin the norcal tacomas (gotta keep up the picture thread)

I pay 29.00 for a 40lb pound of Costco brand (kirkland) dog food, whereas Iams, Science Diet, Eukanuba, etc.. would have you pay double that for an inferior chow. Do some research and you will see I am not blowing smoke. This is the only reason I have a costco membership.

I am just putting that out there for those people that think that you gotta pay alot for dog food for it to be good. I am not trying to be argumentative. Maybe I should have worded my last post differently.

For some reason I think the center consoles seem to been the spot for dogs. All my dogs fight of who gets to stand on the console while I'm driving. I usually end up with 2 dogs with there front paws on the console and the rear legs on the back seat (folded down). Its even funnier when my 65lb dog tries to sit completely on the console.
Thank you for that, never realized there could be health benefits to it. I am still for floppy though. My wife is a super fanatic about cleaning his ears and teeth. The vet complimented both on our last visit. We also are trying a low to no grain diet to help prevent allergies. I had a cat once with ear mites, they are just horrible. We have had a couple vet visits because of paranoia, so we definitely don't screw around. LOL
What grain-free foods have you looked into?
I'm now using Orijen and Acana Grain-free with great results.
I feed Wellness canned 95% chicken when I need to mix wet.

I tried Evo, Merrick Before Grain, Taste of the Wild, Fromm, Canidae, Wellness, Horizon, California Natural and others...in all kinds of flavors.
My guys won't eat any of the fish flavors, so we are sticking with chicken. All the treats are all natural or holistic also.

I don't have any known issues with allergies yet, but food allergies are common in Boston Terriers. It's just my choice to feed a high quality food, the costs are not significant enough to concern me.

Are you just trying to prevent and figure out if there are any? That's what I'm doing.

My pups ears cleared up on their own when I switched to grain-free and I haven't had to clean them at all.

+1 for Acana... I have mine on the Pacifica and Grasslands and she is thriving... full of energy, clear eyes and ears, and really soft coat. and she destroys her food in 2 seconds.... I haven't tried orijen yet but same company... I'm just afraid it may be too rich right now.... Before that I tried Natural Balance with horrible results.... I do like their Treat Rolls and Biscuits though. I

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!

Yep just trying to prevent anything. Boxers are more susceptible to allergies and just want to keep him away from as many allergens as possible.
