Hux likes to use his paws to a lot too. He’ll do the same thing and try and catch things and even pull your arms down when playing tug a war. He’s got some long claws that dig in as well. Haha. His protocol after told to sit is raising his paw to shake. Cracks me up every time.

It's cold as hell here right now - freezing rain and sleet - so the girls want to help me work from home.

They just don't want to work very hard.

My pup likes to do that at my desk. I've started to have to kick him out since he takes the entire space leaving no room for my feet like them. He started when he was 8lbs and is now around 55. He still trys to fit and he'll squeeze under and lay on my feet and the chairs wheel arms.

I brought Riley to work yesterday. Snap-on driver pulls up and there are four of my guys, the rep, and a company man on the truck. Riley busts inbetween them like a boss, eats all the food he can find in the dog dish before looking for his pals (each of which barely weigh what his head does). Too funny.

There was actually a study just done that proved labs actually have a gene (called the overweight gene, lol) that most other dogs do not carry. I can't remember what it was called, but it basically explains why you see so many overweight Labs. I've always kept mine very fit, but I never have to worry about crumbs in the kitchen! They're also super easy to train because they're so food motivated.

There’s also a gene called the faucet gene. When all food goes to the labs, they will drool until fed.

Riley is a defective lab in some ways. If you put 4c of food in his dish, he will eat two and leave the rest.

We just let ours eat all they want. One gets fat like you say, one stays pretty thin throughout the warmer months and then bulks up during the winter. The other did stay thin, but now that he’s gettin old he’s gettin pretty out of shape.

Labs get fat cause they are great beggars and have tons of lazy owners who don't exercise them at all.
Water is the best gym for any lab. They will swim as long as you will throw the ball for them. I had one
yellow female who I had to put in the back of my Tacoma cause she never wanted to leave the river. She would
just sit there like a stubborn ass Lab. Labs that come from English show lines are bred to be stockier. They are
the ones most people call fat. Field trial and hunting Labs very rarely get fat. Best thing you can do to keep your
Lab or any dog thin is feed them carrots and celery as treats and not milk bones. One regular size milk bone is like
    a snickers to a dog.

Riley gets treats made from the same stuff as his food. Instead if sized for big dogs, he gets the small dog ones. Makes it very easy to keep track of his daily intake.

Celery, carrots, beans, apples, and once and a while, banana are all great snack. If you feed apples, be sure to remove the core first.
