I gave our little 12 lb Pomeranian a “frosty paws” dog treat once on her birthday. I made the mistake of letting her have the whole cup at once. She got throat freeze, and made weird coughing sounds until her throat warmed up. Lol.
I was mesmerized by how fast her tongue was. I counted over 160 licks in a 60 second period.

Beautiful husky! I had one for 8 years before he finally ran away for good. He was a stubborn little bastard, but oh how I loved him.

She looks like such a distinguished, proper lady, with her paws folded in front of her.

Both of us just hanging out on a crappy day waiting till the boy gets out of school. My wife tells me that a pillow on every cushion will keep the dog off the couch...

I hope the healing process is going ok. It takes time. Have you considered another? I know you had another dog already. Hopefully he/she wasn’t too negatively affected.

I guess technically "not on the couch" if on the pillows right?

The dog is smart, but she’s old so I let her do what she wants. She’s always been a good girl but she has a strange attachment to that specific couch. Tried to get rid of it and I thought it was going to kill her from all the crying she did. When we moved to this house I put it in the basement to keep for “just in case” stuff as it is a sleeper sofa. She took every opportunity to sneak down there and lay on it. Now, it’s back in the living room. Reckon we are keeping it until we lose her. Personally hoping that doesn’t happen soon.

The lab is pretty sad still. She walks around whimpering, "tails" me everywhere thinking Laila will be with me when we get to the next room. I'm not getting another soon. I need to stop renting & buy. Since it may be a condo/townhome I don't want to be limited by HOA rules that restrict large dogs. Ideally, one day, yes I will.

I was playing around with a thermal imaging camera today. It is interesting on how much better the Golden Retrievers coat protects him from the cold than the Cocker Spaniel.

The dogs. Buffy is the Cocker, Baloo is the Golden.

Baloo's coat holds in the heat much better. I guess that's why he likes to lay outside in the wet grass while it's raining. it was about 55* outside on wet grass.

    Neat!

I have a dog with a thick coat as well. It seems like the crappier the weather the more he insists on going for a walk.

I had to run my truck last weekend out camping to keep my dog cool in the almost 90 degree heat. He hopped into the truck and didnt want to come back out, I ended up starting the truck and ran the a/c for him. I rarely see him curl into a ball to keep warm in the cold. He usually begs to go outside if its cold.

Yup, under 65° is cold, <50° is beyond freezing that could kill you in <10 minutes!

Really though, I'm not from Tx but still a wimp for real cold. At its worst it gets under 30° for maybe a week. I think its "snowed"(1-2" that stuck to the pavement) twice in the 10 years I've been here. Next winter I'm taking the pup to real snow since I couldnt fit it in the schedule this year. I think the pup will lose his mind in excitement.
