We're looking into it, but didn't know anyone who actually had it. After Lucy's back surgery ($2,200 just for an MRI?!?) we are extremely interested.

When I was in high school Terminex came on a different day that was scheduled. We always left our miniature dachshund outside. When I came home I noticed he was super sick.. deathly sick. He had been sprayed in the face by the Terminex dude. The vet said he most likely won't make it through the night, but he did. Had to give him 2 IV's a day for a couple of weeks, he pulled through but lost half his tongue and some teeth rotted away. We couldn't prove that is what happened since they didn't admit to spraying him. They said he got into something like rat poison, but none of it was in areas he could get to. And since his eyes were in bad shape as well, it was pretty obvious he was sprayed. We never let terminex come back after that.

He lived until he was about 14-15. Smallest farm dog we ever had but one of the best haha.

We have pet insurance on our two dogs through Banfield (Petsmart) that has saved us $$$$ with our 12 year old dachshund.

We have Trupanion based on vets recommendation. Covers catastrophic events. Vet can explain difference in plans.

Man I just don’t understand people sometimes and why they do crap like that. It saddens me. I’m glad he lived that long and sounds like he had great owners!!

Living in Maine and taking her home in late November it was too cold for her to enjoy any water up until now. It was only during the last month that she has experienced the ocean and a river. The dog park we visit is along a bicycle path that runs next to the river so the boat launch is on the way out. She frolicked in the water a couple times over the last week but today was the first time the weather was really warm enough. She had her first experience actually swimming today. She does love the water, that is certain. Although she was a bit hesitant and skittish at the ocean when the waves were crashing until she started getting used to it. But having the water chase you? What is up with that?

Every picture of my lab during the summer, he's soaked. I think it's just in them. I have to run the sprinklers when I know he won't be outside, or he will come in drenched.

He hasn't seen ocean waves yet, but I bet that'll put some caution into him.

Training goals right there.. Mine is perfect, but shes reactive and it all goes out the window with strange dogs in sight. Never had the necessary resources (trustworthy 3rd parties with well behaved dogs) to get ut out of her system. But a dog giving chase who still knows arbitrary boundaries like a road is worth being proud of. .

Your quote in bold is gold.. Dogs need more excersise than humans!
    cheers

Continued prayers. I’m kinda late to this thread, but I’m glad she’s doing better! These little (and big) creatures make our lives so much better, it sucks to see them suffer. Worth every penny!

I think Jake likes just being in the truck. He's been in there for two hours now. Just crashes out and refuses to budge when I try to get him out. This is the only time he disobeys me. Stubborn old man.
