I didn't want to do any welding for the shifter so that was my excuse for buying that kit haha. Everything looks the same except the base plate it comes with

I ordered that and cancelled bc I was told it would not work on the fj t case because it is chain driven, not gear. I think someone did say it would work if you modified it in someway but I cannot remember nor can I find where this was said.

I was worried about welding too bc I’m super novice at it but it was pretty easy with 1/2 steel rod

If you’re that nervous then just take it to a friend or local place to do the welding. Don’t settle for a shifter position because you don’t want to weld.

You could probably JB weld a shifter together and it would still work fine

Still going to gather some parts. I think it needs some wire brushing, and definitely needs 2-3 studs on each flange.

So for the gents and ladies that want to FJ swap on the 3rd gen manual. Here is a pic of the clearancing for the shafts. Well a top pic anyways. You can see that I did not need to go as deep for each shaft. What I really needed was a cleaner mark for the shafts location to the back of the trans. It looks like I did not even need to go as high too. The shaft looks like it will clear the shifter base and not interfere with it.

How does this spring fit into the transfer case shift assembly?

Or a page in the FSM that I can refer to for this shift lever spring?

    Thank you all:fingerscrossed:

It goes on the bottom of the OE shifter. You will see to small holes where it fits in. There is only one way it works.
