I did put a type of gasket on the mating surface, but I don't really think it's for this type of fluid?? Still, I'll eventually remove everything again, and reseal. Thanks again. And again. And again. And again. Lol!!

Any reason why Id have to do the anytime locker mod, before doing the fj case? Thats my one thing holding me back at the moment. @Dvst8r1K is influencing me to get started

@fatfurious2, I think you can put all the mechanical (case) stuff on, and then do the licker mod, from what I've read. I unfortunately have no lockers. That's a different wiring scheme, but don't see it any harder than the regular wiring that I had to do. Be sure to goop really well. I didn't leave a good layer and have some light leaking. It's soooo bad ass when it's done, but don't do it twice with a bad gasket job.
C'mon man. If I could do it with no fabrication tools or material, (I bought me a Lincoln i95s) or whatever it's called, and just worked with whatever else I had. You got this man... It's great weather for an FJ Case swap!!!

I was going to go full ADD delete, but decided I didn't want everything turning, nor did I want to get more stuff that I had to wait on, as I had already started. Anyhow, you will have to notch out the trans mount to get the screw out, or back far enough to not have issues with removal. (Heres some twin-stickspiration)IMG_20240825_061651_490.jpg

Yeah; I've seen this video and it almost confused me with what I had to do with my Taco. I think strictly an FJ mod for sure...

@wrmathis; So it happened. I don't let stuff bother me for too long, so I took the rear of the case off, and went to town with a can of permatex. Let it cure, and man did I hit everything. From Twin Stick housing, all the way down. Didn't throw any fluid until the next day. Well, 6 hrs later to be exact. Checked it getting home from work, and so far, all looks to be dry..Thanks for the tips on how to properly set this stuff up. Thanks. I relove this mod again. This truck is becoming a lil beast.
To anyone else on the verge of doing this mod... Stop waiting, and do it!!!! Do it!!! Do it!!!

Glad it’s leak free so far. Pretty sure the directions on the different rtv/gasket makers state to let things cure. Some even state let partially cure then tighten down the bolts. Most people don’t read the directions on the tubes at all.

I read them, but my first attempt was hastened and a bit sloppy. As the cover wasn't lining up and the gasket was smearing and I still had more welding and little time. It was a nightmare for just one person. Overall, it's finally done, again. Lol!!

@6 gearT444E so Ive done the locker anytime mod. If I unplug both of the connections at the 4x4 ecu, will that still work?

Power is still coming into the relay was the purple wire?

Getting ready to do this swap this weekend

I think I've read youcan unplug it and sale it, but I'd wait for the more experienced to answer this. Be sure to write down the order of things to get done. Take your time, and do it once? right, to keep from doing it twice. Lol!! You got this, man!! Have fun..

Im going to be heavily relying on this video, since this guy has the same truck as me, 2010.

    https://youtu.be/29c5XJjycFo?si=kod_ubzppRZkzbm_

you can tell by the post I quoted that i got lost a few pages back, but hopefully everything goes smoothly. The only thing I don't have yet is a shift boot cover, but I know that can wait.

Also look for one on YouTube titled "Complete FJ Case Swap". These exact 2 videos were my go to. Because I do have a 1" body lift, my floor cuts were a bit different, given I also did twin stick mod as well. They're not the same vehicles, but again, lots of similarities and one more explaining than the other in different areas. Check it out.

yes your locker will still work and in the mean time your dash lights won’t function until you reconnect to the transfer case switches.

What year range did the best units come from? Could you point me to the general part of the thread (if it was mentioned).
