    Kinda. Since you have a 6 spd, you need to modify the FJ case by swapping the input shaft from your Taco t-case into the FJ t-case.

    @HomerTaco I was thinking of adding a 1" body lift for tire clearance and the FJ Transfer case swap. Overall, did you think it helped with these two mods or if you had to do it again, would you avoid it?

    Maybe I somehow misunderstood something. When you do a twin stick conversion, is it an add on box or do you actually modify the regular transfer case? I was under the impression it's an extra box.

    I do know about the input shaft, I read that in my research

    I only did it because with the crawl box I've clocked the t-case 15*. The BL made it a lot easier to fit.
    Totally not needed if you're only doing a case swap.

    You're swapping a Tacoma t-case for the manual shift FJ case then modding that case from a J shift to two separate sticks.

    OK thanks I see. The twin stick conversion does not change any gearing or anything right? It's not some sort of crawl box? It just changes the j stick to 2 separate sticks?

    Thanks. I'll be doing the crawl box when I do the swap. I was probably going to do 35's first since my tires will need to be replaced in the near future. Figured the 1" would help with those and already be on there if they helped with the swap.

    Anyone have the stock stick out of an FJ t case that they are willing to part ways with? I know there are a bunch of ppl that have done the twin stick conversions and probably have the original stick just laying around.

    Any reports on the chain failing?? Kinda in a debate with a coworker about the chain vs gear. He's trying to tell me to go with an older Toyota t-case that's gear driven and then "just" get an adapter plate to mount it up.:notsure:

    I am not an expert on Toyota cases but I want to throw a couple of things out there.

    In planning my own swap, I've found a lot of mention that the gear driven lefty cases haven't held up as well as the FJ cases have.

    As I understand it, all of the gear driven cases are based off of the old transfer cases which were designed for lighter trucks with less power whereas the Tacoma cases (chain and all) were designed for the weight and additional power of a Tacoma. Chains are not inherently stronger than gears and vice versa. It's all about how the load on the drivetrain compares to what it was designed for.
