I’d also check the output flanges to see if they are tight on the transfer case maybe one of them was loose when you got it .

So you basically added 2Hi? How’s the road feel in that drive mode?

I eliminated the non-functional AWD tcase and went to a manual FJ case, giving me 2wd. Road feels pretty much the same. I just don't get the slight torque steer from the front end when I get on it that I used to.

Ya, makes sense. I want a manual FJ tcase also but am kicking around whether to keep ADD so I can have 2lo without twin sticks or crawl box. I also want a front Torsen but can’t really wrap my head around whether ADD would be better or worse for that combination.

In case any one is looking for a very solid shift boot for your FJ case swap with a manual trans . I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality very nice piece and no need to add roofing tar and other foreign materials to seal things up .

And if I’m not mistaken it is the factory boot for an FJ with a 6 speed .

I’ve kinda always been that way my friends that know me get it but I may annoy people that don’t , it’s the simple shit in life that excites me and I’ve seen many failed attempts at sealing up the shift boot , so I wanted to share a viable option if you want to spend the extra money .

that’s what I used and it works just swell. Here’s the clearance between 6th gear and 2lo, about an Irish dinks worth

yes, add a couple more holes in the floor. I used sheet metal screws to hold it in because I’m lazy and it worked just fine for about 8 years so far haha

I see you have a crawler box with a twin stick case , are you just using a separate boot on your twin sticks ?

there’s a dual boot on the twin stick, something like this. any gaps were filled with black silicone, easy to remove when you have to, I resealed mine when I replaced the clutch and throwout bearing last year.

I didn’t read all these nearly 80 pages but I have a question, maybe several, for those who kept ADD. If you activate ADD while driving before shifting from 2Hi to 4Hi, what happens? Nothing good I suppose because in 2Hi the stub shaft in the passenger side side gear spins the opposite way of the tires? Front drive shaft probably also won’t like being slapped into turning like that. Essentially, this amounts to complete abuse of all sorts of components?

Secondly, 2lo isn’t really 2lo, or is it? You’ll still have the front diff turning via the drive shaft but the open diff nature sends the torque to the disconnected stub shaft?
