I think it's less for noise and more so to quell the felt driveline vibrations through the stick. I need to either recurve my stick or trim som plastic beuse the isolator part being thicker, rubs againt the plastic opening and makes some noise at idle in gear. It's just barely touching too.

I actually used that driveline vibration to diagnose a chipped ring gear a while back. I would hear a tick that echoed through the sticks, trying to figure out if it was related to the transfer case(s), transmission, or other driveline components. Using a metronome, and staying on cruise control at a known speed, I calculated the driveshaft RPM and expected ring gear RPM for that speed. As nerdy as that sounds it worked pretty spot on haha.

It is especially true if you get an aftermarket driveshaft that doesn't have that cardboard damper, you can basically hear the gear oil sloshing around if you stick your head near the shifters. Kind of like the old string and a can trick kids used to do to chat via tree stand, nowadays they just text each other or talk on the xbox those lazy bastards.

I chopped out the rubber isolator and now it makes a high pitched ringing sound. It’s really annoying.

You saved me a lot of time. Quick cut and a few tack welds, turned out great. The boot on the other hand...idk what I’m gonna do with that lol

This one has like a bendable rod through the bottom. That I bent to be the same as shape a the coin slot. Thin when you but the trim back on it holds up one side really well and I just takes the other side a little

Ooo nice I might try that. How does the “leather” feel? The one I have now feels pretty plasticy and hard to shape
