you have to remember the transfer case barely takes any abuse. Even if 500k is on it, i bet it's a million mile piece of equipment.

I don’t remember exactly but around 180k. My current one has 215k so really anything is an upgrade. I had to separate the case and it looked great inside.

I'd venture to say 99% of them spend 99% of their lives just unloadedly free spinning being little more than an extension shaft from the trans output to the drive shaft.

The thing to worry about is the chain stretching but if it never sees 4WD, and let's be honest most people buy 4WD for peace of mind and never use it, then it's going to be more kr less mint.

Even if they do use it, the FJ AWD case is more or less identical drive system and they're not considered a know failure point so...

    :notsure:

Besides if something does looked damaged you can just pull the parts from your existing electric case when doing the swap apparently.

Really want to do mine now, going to hopefully start this weekend by clearing off a workbench in the garage, inventorying what seals I already ordered and gathering/order more parts as needed.

Then maybe next weekend I'll start tearing into things.

Still trying to decide where I want to locate my sticks. I like the idea of one on each side of the 6 speed shifter.

I have yet to change mine out to the FJ but... I’d be more concerned with damage due to an accident (donor case bought at a salvage yard) vs wear.

I do like how they're both off to the side and out of the way like that, can each easily be grabbed and shifted independent and opposite of each other comfortably while jostling around in the cab on an off camber trail? :D

No idea on positioning but I got my knobs picked at least.

The original 4WD shift knob from my old truck and the knob from a true first gen "Toyota Truck" that I was actually using as the 4WD shift knob on my old truck.

Oh that’s nifty. Are you skipping a traditional boot and doing something else?

As far as this ADD harness goes, which I already have, is there a preferred fuse to tap into for the hot wire of the switch harness?

For those who have swapped in the fj diff tube and fj t case and did the rear locker anytime mod I have a question. Did you just leave the 4wd switch on the dash doing nothing,?
or did you used it to control something else?
or did you just delete that too?

I got a blank cover from a 2WD model and plan to fit a gauge of some kind in it to replace my 4WD switch. I have a volt meter right now I was going to use but I have been thinking about an oil pressure guage or something.

Blue Sea double volt meter? Starting and House batteries?

What's the indirect red lighting coming from?

it’s a from air on board, not sure if the brand. Carling rocker switch size. One meter for each battery yes, the negative is switched off with a manual toggle switch by the ebrake to turn off the meter. As far as the red lighting I’m guessing iPhone background of the regular orange lights in the truck, I don’t have any extra interior lighting.
