    Full disclosure, these rod holders were a total fail. Took up a lot of space in the cap, and the rods were constantly falling out. There is a kernel of an idea here, maybe someone else can do better, but I scrapped them early and put snowboard racks on the roof for transit to and from the beach.

    I wonder if you put the notches on the side closest to the window it might take up less space? I'd also add a lip to the notches closest to the cab (or just make them holes through the wood) and a rubber tie down to the notches closest to the tailgate so you could "lock" the rod in place.

    I have a $5 led light in my toolbox. Held on by velcro (could use more). It's battery powered so no wiring. However, they die faster in winter because batteries don't like cold

    You can install some long screws or bolts along the heavier handle side holding the rods and simply use bundgy balls to tie each rod down around the screws. OP, good idea though.

    Borrowed an idea or 2 from this thread,(my new favorite, thanks LUSETACO:thumbsup:). Put locks on both bed compartment doors. After many adjustments they fit tighter than before. Also made a couple of new Quick fist mounts. Took a hammer to some old steel plates I had and for now they hold my ice scraper. Really happy with how those mounts turned out, now I'm just lookin for shit to hang

    She runs. What more can I ask for?
    Bedmat just marine carpeting? How does it hold up in weather? Looking to do something like this but I don't have a cover and I live somewhere with four seasons.

    How do false bottom?

    Had a moment between kids and the inlaws and saw your post. I got the general idea for here;

    Will post my tweaks when everyone goes leaves after the holidays.

    The kids and the inlaws have all left, so here's my take on this mod. Mine is a little different, as I believe the original poster used 4" pvc. Since I had a good length of 3" pvc pipe laying around I used a 3" to 2" reducer I bought at Lowes. Here's the link to it https://www.lowes.com/pd/Charlotte-...-Schedule-40-Adapter-Coupling-Fitting/3132737.

    I cut a section of 3" pvc about 2 1/4 to 2 1/2" to slip inside the reducer. This cut section is what actually holds the tumbler. I do recall having to open up the ID of the 3" cut section for the tumbler to fit without sticking. Since the inside of the reducer is beveled the tumbler will be unstable. I figured I needed something flat but wouldn't give under the weight of a full drink. I also wanted to add some weight to the base of the cup holder to help secure the whole thing into the center console cup holder. I did some rummaging and found an old lead spacer along with several large fender washers and an leather coaster. The cup holder was then painted with primer. Here I wish I would have painted it before putting it all together. Once painted and dried I put some electrical tape and cut up an old wet suit to make a buffer between the new cup holder and the center console cup holder. I I also put a piece a electric wrap at the top of the new cup holder to prevent any rattling between the tumbler and the cup holder. I was a little concerned about the tumbler being top heavy in the cup holder, but it's never given me a reason to worry.

    Can you send me a few pictures of your other quick fist mounts with the axe and shovel? I've been looking to do something like that. Did you build the brackets yourself? How did you mount? to your railing?

    EDIT: Just went back a few pages and saw you used some old skis. Nice repurposing!

    Thanks Choco, hope that post helped, skis are light weight and very strong. Used "T" nuts in the bed rail to mount. I also mounted some ammo boxes the same way, here's some pics

    So after about 6 months, my light bar got a leak... I contacted Amazon and they sent me a new one and sent back the leaky light. About 6 of the lights on the replacement didn’t work so I called again. Since this was the 2nd defective product in a row, they said I could keep the 2nd one for free, and sent a 3rd! I decided to mount the defective one under my tire gate, and it fits like a glove!

    I do a lot of kayak fishing, so it’s perfect for backing my truck up to water and getting my gear ready in the dark! It also doubles as a f$&@ you light for tailgaters! In fact since I put it on, it’s very rare that anyone actually gets close to me. But when they do... it’s kind of funny to watch them back waaay off after turning it on for a second.

    mod yeah for sure! I definitely keep that in mind when I use it. Also, it has definitely been the catalyst for some pretty severe road rage... so I always use it with caution. It’s just a friendly reminder when necessary, and if they don’t back off, I’ll leave it on lol. They usually get off of my ass one way or another!
