This makes no sense to me and makes you a target in any parking lot you go to.

Did you have a very noticeable difference with wind noise having that case mounted? I've been thinking about doing the same thing.

I have a pelican 1720. Do you have to drill holes in it to mount it?

i have a pelican rifle case mounted on the drivers side of my roof rack. in it are all my winching and recovery stuff, gloves, a fold out tree saw, loppers, machete, extra shoes, etc. i know it is tempting thieves but it has 4 padlocks and no expensive guns in it. been on about a year and no one has tried to get in it. when i kept my recovery gear bag in the bed of the truck sometimes i'd have to dig for it. now everything is right there anytime i need it.

    mid-travel for now....
I know your comment is a few years old but wouldn't this be the same as someone with a toolbox in their bed?? I mean regardless of what you do to your truck I think it'll always be a target.....

Its the old style Plano 42" all weather case.

The new style is 1. twice the price and 2. doesnt have the short edge clamps so the opportunity for water ingress (already a problem on these) is increased.

If I had to do it again, I'd prob look around for an Amazon warehoue, craigslist, etc Pelican 1720 or maybe one of those overpriced ROAM cases on sale. Sure its more, but actually waterproof is nice. After a big rain driving home from a trip, I opened my plano case and had a no kidding half inch of water in the bottom. I'm not the only one thats had this issue either.

The nice thing about the plano case is the built in locks in the latches. Not needing an exposed set of masterlocks rattling around on your roof rack has been a large reason of not swapping over.

A few mods here and there and counting....
Old style Plano houses all recovery gear. Added another thin bulb seal to help w water intrusion.

Came across some pelican cases. In the process of restoring. Goo gone for the stickers and duct tape. Plasti Dip for the finish. Here’s a progress pic. Plan to mount the 1720 to the prinsu.

not sure what to do with the 1660 or the other smaller cases.
