^sweet! An old school quad racer. I just got back from dunefest yesterday and watched Sage Baker kick some serious ass on his Can Am DS450 in the Pro class MX race there. I cant believe how much faster the pro guys really are.

Hey Eric did you ride any of the factory demo quads at Dunefest? I rode a DS450 and really liked it. As much time as I've spent dialing in the carb on my KTM motor I'm starting to think about trading it in for something fuel injected.

I remember that XC race... We drove all the way down there and ended up not racing. It was a damn mess out there.

cool, it was a mess and cold, i had prob 3 layers under the rain suit. it was so cold my goggles froze 1/2 through the 1st lap and the guys with my other goggles were not at the spot since they changed the track at the last min. i rode the whole race with no goggles. i grew up racing mainly flattrack and TT so for me to get out and actually play in the mud is pretty rare but i had a blast. im building one of the 400's as a 440 for this winters race.

Yea it was pretty bad. I remember guys coming through the checkpoint tents and having mud froze to their face. I LOVE to ride, but I won't ride in stuff like that lol.

the reason i ride a quad chief is because once i got married, my wife just had to go riding with me everytime, and her excuse for not riding on the back of my trail bike was because her butt was to big for the seat

Just picked this up from a buddy yesterday. 2007 trx250ex. Raced quads and bikes as a kid, got this to get back into riding. I'm sure i'll want something bigger soon!

Well, I rode the DS450 last year and then again this year to see if i liked it any more than last year..... i didnt like it either time. It's OK, IMO. It just isnt a quad that will ever impress me. Its not that it does anything wrong, but theres nothing really special about it.
Right now, the only other quad I would consider buying is the new Yamaha YFZ450R. Its an awesome machine...... I love everything about it! For stock, the suspension is great, it starts and runs smooth, has PERFECT ergonomics, looks wicked and has awesome hop up potential. And thats with some experience riding both the new KTM 505SX and 525XC's also. They were both really good machines, but not as good as the Yamaha and they cost far more money. The only 450 i havent ridden is the KFX450R.... i need to get my hands on one of those.
