Just got a couple small trail bikes to enjoy with the wife this summer.

TTR-230 and a 125 for her. We are frickin pumped! First dirt machines for us, so it will be a nice change from street riding.

I am looking into buying a 2008 honda trx 450r. I ride mostly in the woods and dont race ever i ride it for fun with family and during hunting season along a private property of 14k acres. I would like to have the quad be taller and have bigger rear tires and better for mud tires. Any suggestions? on armor and if they even lift those or do they just put on taller tires? Thanks!

I had a yfz450 that I used for riding mountain trails. I had ITP holeshots, but the best investment I made was an aluminum skid plate for the swingarm. I bent 3 discs before I finally bought the skid. Sometimes first gear was too high, but it wasnt that bad.

The honda is a good pick they are fun. If you're going to do a lot with mud why not an atv? I can ride wheelies on my 2013 kawasaki brute force 750 stock, so power isn't a problem, and it would be better suited for hunting. It took me a little to jump the fence having raced dirt bikes and sport quads my whole life but after I rode the BF I was sold on it. N

i cant/ dont want to afford a atv and i really like quads, the mud is merely whatever is ont he rode or in the way i dont will avoid it mostly. So most people do a skid and possibly A arm guards along with taller tires.

And have reverse. My 400ex was a beast in the woods. I rode a YFZ and it was more fun in a lot of ways, but the high gearing got old at times.

You can get them fairly cheap. I got my 2013 brand new for $7500 out the door. My 2011 brand new 650 was $5500 out the door. I've also had a raptor 700 that was fun. I did full skids on my raptor so I didn't have to worry about anything.
