Originally I was going to get my wheels powder coated. So I had my tires taken off back in August, ended up getting laid off so those plans changed so I went and got the tires remounted and got the old wheel setup back on the truck. Just in time for incoming weather.

Probably should, but... no. It is further along now. Doors on the cubbies and a gas door-locking (oh the 2nd gen dream.) Couple from the build for you:

I wonder what these cost to make and what’s required. Hopefully something a noob to welding can do with an HFT MIGMAX 215

and hopefully much cheaper than buying one. Saw one new price $12k…

I’m guessing putting removable folding side panels wouldn’t be too much more work

a topper on it possibly aluminum to keep it light and different welding tools for aluminum

I modeled this off one I saw online. I think it was a South African company. They run about 18k I am in about $2500 with steel, wood, fixtures and lights. This is a LARGE fabrication job. Anything is possible if you want it to happen. This tray is stout and made from 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4 steel. A little 110V welder won't be up to the job, no matter what they say. I am not finished making fixtures for the tray: Bike rack, side rails, canvas and screen cover, etc. etc. Aluminum is a whole different animal and cost...

doesn't sound too bad if you sell the bed and rear steel bumper to offset the cost

Alright so, looks like you’ve got no front flares
Me too. No flares at all

been curious about this and how it works with C4 liners in the future

did you already have them trimmed prior? Are they compatible?
I think they mail a template with the liners that’s like a vinyl stick on. To show you an outline of where to cut

multiple templates, on where they recommend to trim the inner and outer fenders, if you have both
If not I guess just the inner

I’m curious to know if my previous trimming of the front inner fender without any template, is gonna mess with future C4 liner compatibility
So far basically just took about an inch off everywhere for tire clearance, measuring as best I could.

probably like most folks seeing as trimming metal back some amount has been common and probably done for a while, before the C4 kit came out

who knows, maybe with an inch cut there’s still enough meat in the metal left to run the liners, and maybe their templates even go beyond that.

    Enjoying this discussion:

My fender flair are not working to well... Not since I have flexed out and the fenders are tad bowed... I am going to change up to McNeil glass fenders. Trees and such just rip them off now at will, and thinking the clearance will be better. pretty sure the C4 kit works with those fenders as well.
