My 295/70/18 only come in E rating. Not all sizes have the c rating

We went out and adventured yesterday. But mainly sitting in the river to just get away from everything.

Whats up guys? All of your trucks look great! I am really leaning towards these tires once my stock wranglers go in the next few months. But, Im torn, I plan on adding either the bilstein 6112 or 8100s ( have a buddy that works at bilstein and gets me great prices ) set at 2" up front and an AAL in the rear for 1" or so lift. My concerns are:

    1) Im between the 265/70R17 which only comes in E rated at 55lbs or the 285/70R17 in C which comes in at 58lbs. How are you guys enjoying these as they are really heavy, fuel/power loss etc? E vs C rating and ride quality?

    2) im stuck between E rated 265 and C rated 285. if I go 285 ill upgrade my UCA if 265 ill just stay with stock. Any reasons to go to the 285? ( i live in Cincinnati ohio, 20 - 25k miles a year, 90% of my driving is highway/stop and go/city with a little off road for mountain bike or hunting trips here and there )

    3) any of you running the AAL? or full leaf pack? if im not doing any serious wheeling is the AAL good enough?

    Thanks in advance

Someone on here with more knowledge than I can explain further but i understand it as sidewall thickness. E=10ply C=6ply ( may be manufacturer dependent ) but guys that wheel a lot in rocky rough terrain and like to air down the tires usually like E rated because they withstand the abuse better.

That helps a ton. just to clarify, you said you took the top plates and lean shim out of your front springs and your 5100s are at 0. Is this saying you didnt add any lift to the front, even took lift out since you took out the top plates and are still able to fit the 32" tires?

also, what made you take out the lean shim? ive been thinking of doing the same.

ahh yea i completely forgot that the OME 885 gave that much lift. thanks for all of the input.

Those tires look great. keep us updated on how they continue to handle, wear etc. If i can get a set of 17" rims ill probably get them

Actually has nothing to do how tough the side wall is. The load ratings are for how much air pressure the tires can hold/how much weight the tires can support. E vs C rated tires do not actually have 10 or 6 plys either. It's a myth that the heavier rated tires have better side wall protection than the lighter ones.

That being said I've ordered my 285/70/17 tires and will post em once I get them mounted.

Sexy. My tires can't get here any faster!:annoyed:

Is anyone else running the other sidewalls? I kind of like those better. Looks more like Trail grapplers.
